Steroids making me bald?

Hi ive recently had a hospital admission to due to an exacerbation of my asthma it wads the worst one ive ever had i was in intensive care and spent 6 weeks over all in hospital. Now i have been discharged and told to carry on with the steroids for now but its the highest dose ive ever been and ive noticed that im loosing handsful of hair whether im just brushing it or washing it even runningmy hands through it and loads come out, ive heard it could be a side effect of steroids but my pharmacist wasnt sure so i was just wondering if anyone has had any similar experience?

Never heard that one, I've been on them for years sometimes at a high dosage and I still have my hair.

Sometimes after a period of stress or prolonged illness your hair can fall . Get it checked out first by Your GP .

If there is no other underlying cause you could try biotin supplements or a good course of multivitamin.

hi I have the opposite problem my hair falls out after I finish taking pred my bloods all came back normal so I think it might just be hormone related. maybe try speaking to doc or cons

Hi, I am in no way a medical expert, just someone who has asthma too, so needs to read about it. Yes, I’ve heard that about prednisone. Because I have other hair related problems. So years ago, when I was put on it again. I read the side effects and it said hair loss, as a possibility. And I was, iffy, almost, about taking it. Luckily it didn’t happen, that I know of. So I have known that it’s a possibility. I hope this at least helps ease your mind or somehow helps...
