Hey I'm new here. I was diagnosed with asthma a fair few years ago have had no symptoms for over 3 years and suddenly I am short of breath. I cannot get into my GO surgery is there anyway I can see a pharmacist and they prescribe a reliever?

I just don't want the symptoms to get worse.

Help!!

YES,

"There are provisions within the Prescription Only Medicines (Human Use) Order 1997, as amended, for a pharmacist within a registered retail pharmacy premises to make supplies of prescription-only medicines without a legally valid prescription in an emergency."

Hi Uuuii

Sorry to hear your symptoms are back, we'd suggest speaking to your local pharmacist, they may have to verify your blue inhaler prescription with your GP by phone. All areas are different so we can't guarantee that you'll be able to get it over the counter.

If you are using your blue inhaler more than 3 times a week, it's worth making sure you are taking your preventer inhaler as prescribed as winter is coming and asthma symptoms might get worse.

Hope that helps,

Dita

You say you can’t get into your GP surgery. Do you mean you can’t get an appointment? Or one soon enough? It seems to me that even if you do get a salbutamol inhaler from a pharmacist, it would also be important to see you GP or an asthma nurse if your symptoms suddenly are backand perhaps worsening.

Yes I can't get an appointment with a GP that's fine I would still see my GP at a later stage
