Montelukast

Hi im on steroids again for a viral chest infection. I work in a school .The gp has also prescribed Montelukast to help my immune sytstem. The side effects are insomonia is anyone else had this. Thanks

Oral steroids are well known for insomnia!!! I try not to stress about it when I take them, But go with the flow. Montelukast does not per se cause insomnia in most people, but it does sometimes give very vivid dreams. I recently had to stop taking Montelukast for a week, and definitely noticed a difference in my dreams when I started taking it again

However your doctor is right, I have had far fewer infections since starting to take Montelukast.

I am sure lots of people here will have an opinion. I do hope you feel better soon

I tried Montelukast a few years ago & it didn't help me but started again more recently & it has definitely improved things for me. I had vivid dreams at first, but don't get them now.
