Hi. I've been on montelukast for 2 weeks now, I have noticed in the last few days that I haven't been getting my normal scratching sensation in my lower throat and when I laugh it hasn't made me cough so I think it may have started working.
However I have been very nausea's for a week now, has anyone else experienced this ?
If you have did, did it pass ?
Hi EKB1, I was taken off montelukast pretty recently but when I started it in October 2015 (together with high doses of corticosteroid inhalers) I had all sorts of side effect. They were probably combined because of all the medication I'd been taking. However, my side effects started pretty much a day or two after I started taking the medication, before it even started working. It took me a full month to get over the sensations.
Technically, for any side effect you should talk to your doctor, but maybe you should watch it for a few more days closely and determine whether it is really connected to you taking the montelukast. Mine was prescribed to take at night and my doctor told me that way you avoided the side effects. However, for some other people it seemed to cause side effects exactly during the night.
My advise is, watch it carefully for a few days so you can gather information. Then discuss it with your doctor.

My experience of Montelukcast was initially it helped a lot in controlling my asthma. But after about a year they ceased to be effective at all. I am no longer taking them and just rely on my regular inhalers (Symbicort and Ventolin). I didn't experience any negative side effects at all from Montelukast though.
I was taken off Montelukast because my asthma was somewhat under control already and I could only go on with the Flixotid. I dare say it kept working well for me for about two years before I have it up. It's different for everyone, as you know.

I have taken singulair 10 mg at bedtime perhaps since 2001. One thing I know is that there is a difference in the effect of the generics on me. I agree you report any side effects to your doctor. There is a remote possibility you might feel differently with a different generic manufacturer. There's a few. It's a matter of what pharmacy you get it from. Then there is the brand, which is very expensive.
I had quite a long settling down time with Montelukast, about six weeks, when I started them in January 2016. Mainly vivid dreams and sleep patterns changed but also felt a bit anxious and out of sorts. I kept deciding to finish with it but ended up saying 'another week'. I persisted because I really wanted it to work on my quite disabling perfume trigger. I don't remember nausea though. It eventually settled and did it's job, so wouldn't be without it now. I still have the perfume trigger, sometimes big time, but my reactions are definitely much slower to start and accelerate. I've got a bit complacent and don't move away from the perfumes as soon as I used to....that's when the Montelukast stops managing it for me. But a great help. I agree a GP visit might be best. Also agree might be worth trying a different manufacturer. I get the tablets in various shapes and colours on different prescriptions though haven't noticed a difference in efficiency yet. When I started Montelukast I found some nausea and fatigue for the first week or two, (plus some very strange and entertaining dreams) They did wear off though, and for me the positive benefit of massively improved breathing was well worth the trade for a few weeks!
The only side effect that never wore off was that on the rare occasions I drink alcohol I seem to get drunk quicker... So it has saved me some cash too lol!
I am feeling shortness of breath. Coughing is not stopping. Feeling tired. Urine burn. Vomiting. What should I do? Should i stop taking medicine. It is causing my all body pain. Mentally irritation. I am also taking that medicine from 2 weeks
