Asthma investigations

I am supposed to be starting a new job this week. But may have to delay it for a week, if my new employer will wait that long as it's in a call centre. To explain, I have had a cough day and night now for about 5 weeks now, and even with using my fostair the doctor doesn't think it's properly controlled, as I'm having to use my salbutamol a lot more to. The strange thing is the doctors say my oxygen levels aren't to bad.. still waiting for a referral for the respiratory clinic. Got an appointment on Monday morning with my asthma nurse to see if she can get me on the right inhalers.. had my flu jab last night too
