Hi all,

Hi Steffie, well why do you need anti-inflammatories? because paracetamol is just as good for back pain etc..if it is asthma related like cough well steroids are anti-inflammatory.
Hi HL,
The inflammation is due to..... "the worse arthritic L5,S1 joint he has ever seen" so my consultant said. The ibuprufen is not for my asthma. Don't really take anything for my asthma. A puff of ventolin if needed. And by steroids do you mean something like prednisone ?
So my question still stands is there anything else for arthritic pain that does not affect my asthma, because NSAID's do not agree with asthmatics. Well not me anyway.
Thanks for your reply.
Steff
Can't your consultant guide you on that? He/she should know. It is, after all, not so unusual to struggle with ibuprofen.
Yes I meant prednisone..some asthmatics take codeine but I don't like feeling drowsy
Yeh me neither Happy. Took prednisone this morning, but the trouble with them is I can't sleep (if it aint one thing then it's another). Going to docs tomorrow.
Thanks for your reply.
Barb
yes it does affect my sleep depending on the mg..I have it with breakfast..Hope the doctor finds you something appropriate xx
Yes, he'll give me a 5 or 7 days on prednisone and zopiclone.
Barb
ok I take bromazepam it helps me sleep..on and off..
OK, I've not heard of that one.
same family..but a muscle relaxant as well..helps me with nocturnal asthma
Hi Wheezy,
The simple answer is "they don't know". Just mention the word imflammation and they all blart out the same medicines. I'm on dihydrocodeine for pain but it doesn't do anything for inflammation. Seems like there isn't anything else, besides eating foods that help etc etc etc.
But anyway looks good on my horizon. Had injections for the lower back (& will repeat them in May to tide me over summer) and I've said I'll have surgery late August or early September.
My partner said smoking dope helps with pain. I wonder why you can't get it on prescription.......
Cheers, Barb
Hi steffiegirl I am using codeine phosphate 30mg alternating with Paracetamol for pain relief.6 hourly. ask your doctor or specialist if this would help you. I have asthma.COPD. but also had a mastectomy and found out that Iburofen is not good for asthma. but then again it does say the same with the codeine paper. but I make sure I spread it over six hours minimum. I hope you get some pain relief soon. I personally would not go down the smoking dope route, as you need a clear head to sort out your pain relief and make sure you take it at the correct dose etc.
Hi Teddy,
Thanks for the info. I can ask the doc about codeine phos, but she/he (have 2 docs) will probably say but you're already on dihydrocodeiine (are they similar ? I wonder).
Anyway pain not to bad since injections. It's just all the crap we get when becoming older.......oh what joy eh ?......It's an injustice if you ask me.
Cheers, Barb
Oh.....concerning the dope idea, I never did like it because it made me too laid back and I like having all my marbles ticking over nicely.
