Had a respiratory/cold 3 weeks ago. Got over it but my sense of smell hasn't come back. Had anyone had the same problem and did it come back and how long did it last? Can anyone comment on this issue.

I lost my sense of smell but hadn't realised until the doctor prescribed nasonex drops for night=time coughing. After about a week of the drops I noticed I could smell again.
I've lost most of my sense of smell two or three times now. It's come back but not consistently as good as it was. One thing to get checked is cortisol as lost of sense of smell can sometimes be linked to Cushings which is more common in those who use Steroid Treatments.
I'm not a medic but but believe that the use of Steroids (Nasal, Oral and maybe Inhaled Steroids in higher doses) may be part of the reason for temporary loss or partly reduced sense of smell.
