New to community.

Hi im loraine , new to the forum been meaning to join forca while , i have asthma have had since I was 4 years old but had got worse over the last few years , i also have fybromyalgia which i have had for 15 year this has gradually got worse over the years aswell although in the first few years i didnt think it could get any worse how wrong was i but it well managed now . the odd flare-up but mainly breathing problems ive only recently been given home oxygen so I'm still getting used to that at the moment .

I have enjoyed reading people's posts and I have replied to a few. which I didnt think I would as I dont use Facebook or any other social media . I do tend to get side tracked and long winded lol .

Perhaps we should have a separate board for people who are easily side-tracked & long-winded. If that was a medical condition I'd never be out of hospital

Thank you . im getting there. It will take time , my partner is s good help , he had to give up his job to help me and our son , i was in and out of hospital a lot , so he had no choice really. I hope you are keeping well .

oh dear it is a lot of pressure I know..I wish you well.

my daughter had to move me from England to Switzerland coz I had Dad in hospital and I was sick..we are lucky to have helpful families..and as I moved Dad to a home with medical facilities last month she came to help me again, but he is very needy so it is not great so far, I said Dad give it time.

Like this week I have a full medical check up at the respiratory clinic and the next day the home wants to have their monthly meeting about Dad. I wonder why they get a job in geriatrics if they moan about elderly people all the time.

Then I am going to Mum's for Christmas and she is in a home in France where I come from, but she is more independent than Dad so she finds it easier. And 16th of January I am seeing the consultant so we'll see..!

Yes it never stops but in a way I don't have time to think about myself so much so it's ok!

Hi Loraine,

I was interested in the home oxygen mention in your post. I have had mild asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis too but my main issue has been ME which is often related to fibromyalgia. I'm currently looking into a home oxygen compressor as I had a positive reaction with my ME from a hospital administered oxygen intake. I don't know much about which is the best machine, costs, drawbacks etc, but I'm seeing a lung specialist this week who hopefully can advise me. What sort of oxygen set up do you have at home? Good luck with it...G.

Ps. My asthma has in recent years mainly been triggered by food allergy/intolerances.

Hi gino39, i have the home compressor the consultant and asthma nurse organised it for me on my last hospital admissions when I was in for 3 weeks , it was all delivered to the house while i was still in hospital my partner was advised how it worked and I was given 2 portable cylinders and a emergency cylinder in case of power cuts . its easy to use , it just takes time getting used to using it all the time , but it has help well maybe I shouldn't speek to soon but I have been using it sonce the beginningof October . if you get it you will soon get used to it , hopefully you wont need it, good luck , let me know how you get on .

Hi, gino 39 , I forgot to say i didn't haveto pay for any of it, i even got a carry bag for the portable cylinder and the nassel prongs every i needed but it never cost me anything . good luck
