Sore tongue
Hi Lyngal
Reflux ou candida or allergy??
Omeprazole 20mg for the reflux ask the doctor
Candida they can check your mouth and throat for whitespot it's like thrush comes with inhalers and steroids how much we try to rinse and wash out teeth etc
Allergy as you have a runny nose etc get cetirizine over the counter see if that works check with your pharmacists if you have any interaction with your current meds.
Best of luck
Xx
Sounds like a fungal infection to me, steroid sprays make us more susceptible to these. Rinsing and gargling after taking the spray cuts down on the likelihood. The chemist was able to give me over the counter treatment. Get the one tablet remedy (generally for thrush), I felt better in 24 hours
A white furry tongue can be a sign of thrush in the mouth and its due to not rinsing your mouth out after the steroid inhaler. I asked my dentist about it and its one of the side effects of inhaling and not rinsing.
Welcome to the wonderful world of oral thrush. I get it constantly no matter how vigilant I am with brushing and rinsing. You'll need to see the doc for a prescription for Nystin or similar.
I also find lots of natural plain live yoghurt helpful as (eg Yeo valley) and/ or a probiotic capsule broken open and rubbed on tongue / swallowed (eg bio kult in boots) very helpful too for keeping it a bay or if mild. But see pharmacist first for nystatin.
I'm not a huge fan of natural yogurt, but I need to use it as I have digestive issues and I've also had oesophageal thrush (and oesophagitis as a result of it). However, if you like bananas, then slice one soft ripe banana (no hint of green on it anywhere), add around a third of a pint of milk and a large tablespoon of fage Greek yogurt and put in a blender or liquidiser to create a banana milkshake.
My routine to keep oral and pharyngeal thrush at bay (and I've never had either) is to gargle and rinse, clean teeth, and gargle and rinse again after I've used my steroid inhaler.
I find that gargling with salt water helps.
I also had the same problem and some of the great people on this forum gave me the best advice of taking my fostair just before I clean my teeth. I now keep it in the bathroom and have religiously taken my inhaler before brushing and my tongue is now absolutely fine. Doesn't work for everyone, as sometimes you'll need a prescription but (fingers crossed) it worked for me.
I have the same thing and been told that the white furry counting on my tongue is Oral Thrush caused by using my inhalers.
