Feel really low I know one asthma trigger is due to hormones and time of month so I'm prepared for it next month, went to see the asthma nurse yesterday and all was fine but woke up this morning full of cold wheezing coughing. I've had to use ventolin a good few times looks like it's back to the Drs tomorrow if I can get an appointment if not it's the walk in. To think for the last 4 years I ran the Liverpool Santa dash now at the moment I get out of breath walking around town shopping π Hopefully I'll be sorted before the next dash and be able to run/power walk it π

So sorry to hear that Lyngal..yes asthma is up and down and so goes our mood of the day...
When is the last time you saw the respiratory specialist? I'd push to be referred if I was you with the same words you used right now π I mean 4 years is a long time to be in and out of asthma control and there is so much the nurse can do.
Take care now Lyngal x
Hi happylondon thanks for the reply, I've only had asthma since December 2015 so new to this at the moment It's one step forward 6 steps back.
ah ok I misunderstood about the time frame sorry the marathon was 4 years ago.
i meant what I said about asking for referral so you get a good check up, they find the right treatment for you and you have follow ups. You are in the system then.
if I have questions I can give a call to the Asthma nurse in my team at the Charing Cross hospital, she will always get back to me and that's important.
She ties up with the GP, writes letters about the way to go, gave me an action plan so I know where I stand and what to take according to my peakflow and/or symptoms.
I have rescue meds at home like antibiotics and prednisolone so I can handle my own symptoms without rushing places seeing somebody I don't know and have to explain myself all over again.
Take care Lyngal
Good luck at the docs hope they can help β₯
Hi Lyngal
Just wanted to say I definitely find my asthma is worse before my time of the month too. How does that work!?!?!
May be a good idea if you don't have a nebuliser to ask your asthma nurse for an aero chamber. That was you can put ten puffs of ventolin (that's the instructions my consultant gave me) into the chamber then breathe it all in at your pace until you're happy it's all gone. That way it gets down deeper and may have along ear lasting effect for you?
One tip I will say is that like you I wake up in the morning feeling a tiny bit crap at this time of year so I set my alarm for five and get up and have my new as although I still feel poorly-ish the phlegm in my chest has already had a blast
So if you have or can get an aero chamber the. You could try the same? Then go back to bed for a bit before you properly get up and the drugs are there working?
Let me know how you get on x
My asthma always arrived the same time as my monthies, so I asked to go on the mini pill cerevette and this really helped. Worth trying !!
