Been coughing since Last September had about 1 week feeling normal. Had 5 lots preds and antibiotics on blue inhaler and fostair. Had montelaklust yet still coughing. Had xray. Docs referred me but not until March. What else can I do guys I am so fed up of coughing and having catarrh. Just when I think I feel a bit normal it kicks off again. Admitting the cold lately hasn't helped but I need something anything diff to try now. ... any advice greatly appreciated.

I have a chronic cough. Was put on carbosisteine, which does stop the cough but does thin the phlegm, if your cough is productive, which helps.

Have had a similar problem, sadly not been able to work since 5th Nov. Been on a cocktail of medication along with nebulising I'm down to a morning/Eve nebulising of salbutamol and ipratropium , Iv weened off steroids but taking an antibiotic Azithromycin which on the airways I'm to believe for 4 weeks. I'm hoping this is helping.

Iv only just started to feel normal.

Previously 2 weeks with no steroids all starts again. Fingers crossed this time it's not the case and I can return to work.

my thinking this past winter has been bad for many people.

Now I'm trying to build up my energy levels. As being week for so long has an impact. Xxx

Hi there,

Quite a few of us here seem to have been coughing since September! I was really struggling with higher needs being the only medical responce. Apart from the asthma I have bronchiectasis and recently diagnosed COPD. For me I finally found a trigger which if not the base issue certainly made things a whole lot worse. I gave up eating dairy and the coughing stopped a couple of days later. I have not coughed or produced any thick phlegm since. I used to cough up what I referred to as "sea monsters" as they came from the deep and were pretty scary!;0) Not seen one since cutting out all dairy and being very strict about it. Makes eating out pretty challenging as I'm also vege;0) I was at hospital today for a check up and I just got a glazed look when asking if there was anything vegan!;0) I always carry my own food! Of course this may not help but might be worth a try?

Good luck with it,

Gino

Thankyou for ur reply. X I will try the diary as I know singers also try not to eat cheese before a concert as it effects their throat with coughing catarrh and the smoke effects on stage. Thanks x
