Hiya all,

I had a Spirometer test today and would not want to do it again,

The asthma nurse looked at my peak flow and looked at my Spirometer results and said i have asthma but not what type.

Is it normal for them not to give me a new color inhaler ? and review in 3 months ?

Spirometry can be a bit horrible...I usually sound like I smoke 50 a day by the time I'm finished.

The type won't really be easy to say at this juncture but may not matter. If you know what your triggers are, and are ok when you avoid them, then that's a good start.

Which inhalers do you currently have?

Hi Minushabens,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm currently on the blue inhaler.

To be honest I'd have said that yes you probably should have a preventer, but obviously I wasn't there & haven't seen your readings so I wouldn't want to jump to any conclusions.

I know that you've said before that you have trouble with the surgery, but did the nurse say what happens next?

The Nurse just said that she will review my asthma in 3 months times.

But i'm going to try and get an appointment tomorrow with the doctor.

When I had my very first and only Spirometer I had to use my blue inhaler a lot as I couldn't breathe properly for ages.

Hi David

Was interested in your post. I have my lung function test on 8th Feb, and your post has made me a little queesy. Just what do you have to do?

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

I had to blow into this merchine 3 times slowly while holding my nose then another 3 times as fast as i can with out holding my nose.

I then had to take 4 puffs of my blue inhaler then had to wait 30 mins for it to work then had to the same as above again.

while doing this it made me very light headed and very dizzy and short of breath.

it's not something i would like to do again anytime soon.

Thanks very much David. It's a week today, so it gives me time to prepare myself. I didn't think it would take so long.

I'm just hoping it doesn't start the cough off. Some have said exactly that.

Thanks again
