Hi I am always told to go to doctors after an attack or hospital admission its getting the appointment which can be a week or 2 after & then you feel like wasting doctors time as all ok by then

Why do you have to wait that long for an appointment? That is unexceptionable! I have only had one asthma attack over 6wks ago after ten years of mild symptoms. Unknown to me at the time my asthma was getting worse. This was due to lack of knowledge on my part.

I must admit to not going to see my doctor within 48 hrs of my attack. (Didn't read my asthma plan) I waited until I finish my steroids supplied by the paramedic I call for myself when I having the attack. T

The asthma nurses on the helpline were brilliant and told me to go back to the doctors when I wasn't better after the first course of steroids. Having the back up of asthma uk nurses really help me get to be seen when I need to.

I am now classified as having moderate asthma with seretide inhaler 250 mg two puffs twice a day. I started on cencil which wasn't working. It took 3 lots of steroids and 4 wks to truly recover.
