Time of year .

Just being diagnosed with Asthma a year ago , still pretty new to this but here goes .

I had a stuffed nose all summer long , no sense of smell at all [hay fever ] was a miserable summer for me tightness in chest on hot days etc .

Thinking was leaving all this behind me as heading to Autumn but the blocked nose is suddenly back ...is there something in the air this time of year im missing ?

Winter is the time I was at my worst with a cold going straight to my chest , can I expect this every year here on in ....thank you.

Where do you live Maurveen? I say that because the weather has heated up again here this week and my hay fever symptoms have increased again.

I live in Scotland , and the weather has got a bit sunny ..was wondering could it be the cause , its just that heard on the news the pollen season was over did however notice weeds coming back to life ...thanks for reply .

Living up in Scotland is one way to become an asthmatic. Why not come down to England where there is less of it?

You get leaf mold this time of year, not uncommon to be allergic to this as well as pollen

Don't know if you live near mountains, moorlands or heath, but it could heather which is flowering now, and Scotland has a fair bit of that. Also gorse is flowering. They both get me sniffling etc.

Maurveen, my son had terrible trouble breathing some years ago when we were staying in Yorkshire. The doctor we saw said that it was quite common for people who had never had asthma symptoms before to react to the gorse out on the moors. If you have quite a lot of that around you it might be worth asking your GP for an antihistamine to reduce or eliminate the reaction.

Annista , thank you ...I expect you are correct the list of allergy's gets bigger all the time ..hope it rains soon or maybe if Scotland votes yes we get less of our share of uk pollin ..lol

I think you'll find that the pollen is on the list of things that Scotland wants to keep, along with the midges, the Irn Bru and the Loch Ness Monster.

I would come down , but after Thursday the borders may close , think we are due some rain this week so might begin to feel a bit better .

My goodness! Will I now have to buy a visa to come into the land I love? I'm a pensioner for goodness sake! Why did you Scots not consider the abject poverty of us English pensioners before voting Yes?

Your in luck , pensioners can get in free ...( whisper this so Salmond wont hear me } we still want to be friends but braveheart scarred us for life .

Sadly, I cannot come to Scotland again because it could be the end of me. I camp out and would not survive in the Scottish climate.

My asthma flares up when the weather changes. Mine is usually good in summer and goes bad when it goes cold. I was advised to keep my chest covered and warm but still causes me problems. I think everyone is different. For some it goes bad in summer, just depends on the person I think.

down her in muggy, warm, damp worcester I am up at 0330 am as my nose and trhoat are trying to kill me I am on singulair every night and steroids and antihistamines and a nasal spray!!!! Yet I am still suffering something chronic!!!!!!!!! i have been asthmatic for 45 years and never ever ever had this rotten time its the worst I have allergic reactions ever!!!!!!!!! Two emergency runs to A&E plus steroids ........|This has been a very odd year that I question if the medical profession have any clue how to deal with allergies

I have questioned for a long time whether the medical profession have any clue as to how they might deal with the obesity epidemic. This led me to wonder whether they know how to deal with anorexia and a number of other medical calamities. I have had to deal with my asthma all my life but have never suffered as you appear to be so suffering. There is a place where you live to get HBOT if you have the time and a little cash.

Hi My asthma is also bad in the Autumn because fungi spores are one of my triggers. It might be for you as well? Pollution can also still be quite high. Summer tends to be okay for me because I'm fine with grass pollen but I have trouble in Spring with tree pollen. Hope this helps!
