I'm on Flutiform 125/5 and I am loving it! My lungs didn't agree with Symbicort or Seretide so I asked to swapped to this and I am kicking myself because I didn't ask sooner... I would say that it took a week or two to work for me... I can't be sure though because I had a cold which was messing with my asthma big time... I like that you can increase the dose of the inhaler when, and if you are needed (speak to your doctor about this... They will give you an asthma plan). It's reduced my asthma symptoms 10 fold since I started it (other than when I had the cold).
What dose are you on? Have you tried other meds?
I'm another convert - 2 puffs of 125/5 twice a day - in place of Flixotide alone, having tried a few other combinations of LABA & ICS first. This combination just works for me and did so pretty fast. The LABA component (Formoterol) kicks in quickly for me and the Fluticasone component is just the same as my previous preventer so I had a seamless transition with an immediate improvement in my cough.
I can't praise it highly enough - and am glad my GP was happy to try me on it when we were struggling to find an effective combination that would work for me without side effects. I've been taking it for well over a year and would not change it for anything now!
I do not have asthma but a persistent cough and wheeze following severe pneumonia 18 months ago. Seretide was giving no improvement and I have been switched to Flutiform. Only on day 2 but already seeing a marked improvement in my cough. Fingers crossed!
