Hi Irishboy
I was referred by by Chest consultant to the difficult Asthma Clinic. I had a series of Breathing tests. Then the asthma nurse took bloods and did allergy testing and observed my inhaler technique. When I saw the consultant he asked for a full medical history and about any recent problems. Then he examined me. He is taking me on as a patient to help with my Brittle Asthma. I have only been once and will be going again in about 3 months time.
Hope this helps

Yes I went to one, was discharged a couple of years ago.
I don't have brittle asthma, but do have atypical, difficult to control asthma. The consultant said he had thrown all of the tests at me... High resolution CT scan, VQ scan, bronchoscopy, echo bubble scan, 6 minute exercise test, mannitol challenge and all of what hedgehog has said (that's what I can think of off the top of my head.) Very thorough and a very busy clinic which is why he discharged me as soon as possible. I can be re-referred at any time.
