I'm an idiot and I haven't been taking my purple inhaler for a week or so; due to being ill, having no energy, sleeping a lot and a few other issues. my chest is starting to feel nasty again - how long will it take for seretide to start building back up in my system?

up to a week IME. It takes longer to have an effect than to lose the benefit.

thank you.

dear Confused, in my experience i've done this too and i'm sure others have too. either becuase other more ""important"" things or illness or even becuse we feel better. i would agree that it takes a good couple of days until the inhaled steriods kick in. if you are still poorly with whatever stopped you taking your medications regularly can i suggest you organise to see your GP so that all the ailments can be tackled. winning the battle with asthma is only the beginning if our immune systems are under attack from other bugs as well.

take care ><> and no you are NOT an idiot. xx

It can take 2-4 weeks for steriods to get back into the system... Ok to miss a few doses ... But to go over a week really isn't explainable as When unwell it makes it more important to comply and take it and if you run out you can always get an emergency prescription ....... Hope you feel better soon ... You could see your gp who may give oral steroids to cover the time period
