Expect to be tested inside out and upside down. They will repeat many tests you have had before as well, so don't be suprised by that, they will take a detailed historai etc and for goodness sake don't forget your 2-4 weeks of PF's cos they will need them. If you have had lots admissions in the last year is a good idea to write them all down so yout can just hand over the paper rather than trying to remember them all off the top of your head, Sometimes they find it useful to to where-ever you have had admission before and detials of gases etc so knowing dates and where you were admited helps them. I am hoping to make my escape on tuesday so I won't be around but just in case I will PM you where I am etc.
Bex
i went in last year 2 do the difficult asthma protocol thingy! indeed do expect lots of tests and make sure u have lots of puff as the amount of peak flows and spirometry they made me do was alot!!! i was very very nervous but having debbie the asthma nurse come and see me on the day of my addmission calmed me down alot. she was excellent in explaining every thing that was gonna happen. do speak 2 her as it helped me get over any fears i had. hope all goes well.
clare
Bex and clare have pretty much said it all...hope it goes well. It's quite a 'busy' admission!!!

RBH
I spent two weeks on Victoria Ward, on IV Theophylinne for 12 days. Not a pleasant experience but it was more like a club atmosphere than a Hospital.
All the lung function work can be very tiring but, compared to any other Hospital I've been to, there is nothing comes near the RBH in terms of expertise and patient care.
If you have time afterwards, treat yourself to a good meal. Some great restaurants near by, some reasonable, most expensive, some very pricey.
katie just take something to read/do as i always get v bored in hospital.
Hope they give you the answers you want.
