neb advice needed pls.

I currently have a portaneb at home which i love and an omron micro air for when im out and about.

However im having problems with microair - it doesnt seem powerful enough if i have a bad attack while out (very possible for me!!) I dont think its the actual machine as i have 2 and both are working fine for regular use.- does anyone have this experience?

What i would like to know is - is there a neb as powerful as the portaneb -thats battery/carbattery run? i used to have a freedom freeway which was perfect but it bit the dust!

I have the opportunity for this to be paid for by a grant so im not overly worried about cost.

Thanks in advance

hi hopalong

i have found that also, my resp nurse said to me it was because it was not designed to be used in a bad attack it was only designed to be used as a one off and not for daily use. Although i do use mine lots i do not find it helpful in a bad attack i better off getting home quick or ringing an ambulance although it keeps me breathing a bit than not using anything till i get help. So it is better than nothing!

you are not alone that is for sure

Hi I have a micro air and freeway and to be honest when asthma is rubbish and comes on quick both machines are only any good to keep me going until little green men arrive. So in my opinion if you are in a state best let the professionals have a look at you rather than prat around with any home nebs.

Plumie- glad (or not if u get my jist) that im onlt the only 1 who finds the Omron less effective.

Katina - Unfortunately if i was to go to A+E every time i had a bad attack i would be there far too often (already spent 2 months on and off this yr.) i have to neb 4 times a day anyway minimum. If i am quite poorly i try not to go out but sometimes i have to.

Hi I have a parimed, pariboy mobile s.which is fantastic.I'm on my second in 10 years as battery on old one became obsolete.Still use old one as it runs on car battery too, so keep that one in the car, and my god has that been a blessing!! the battery doesnt last as long as others. 2 goes and needs recharging, but thats enough for me at work and can plug it mains or car.I do use it for 20/25 mins at time as use combivent+ extra2.5mg/5mg ventolin 4 hourly so it gets hammered, plus my sons brittle too so sometimes its used 2 hourly. It about £235, got mine from evergreen, replacement yearly service kit is about £25,(i get 2 lots as old one uses same).Hospital do free sat testing on it,so can use it anywhere when out if needed as its proved safe.

Hope that helps

Kate

Hi

I am in a similar boat, my omron is fine but don't find it powerful enough for my physio and it is so slow my workhorse has recently broken down and is uneconomical to repair I am looking at either an omron C30 or aqailon ultima both from evergreens

The aqulion ultima is in the process of being relaunched and all been well they will be in stock today or tomorrow but they have been waiting since the 1st September. I think the aqulion is the one I am getting.

I too find the omron a bit weedy when it comes to a real humdinger!

I have a Freeway Elite and microelite (diddy one) compressors

The elite seems to have lost some oomph recently though. (May need a service!)

The micro elite is good though I am not over keen on the neb chamber & tubing.

When all else fails, I can neb on 6lt of O2 while waiting for an amb.

Kate

Got a call this morning from ever greens aquilon ultima now in stock and I should have one by tomorrow Would you like me to let you know how I get on with it?

Im favouring the Omron microelite as i really want a portable battery operated compressor now just waiting to find out if i canget the grant topay for it !!!

Ta for the advice
