Portable O2 and the police

A friend who is on 24 hour O2 went to collect her Mum from Gatwick today and had huge trouble convincing the police it was oxygen, she was not a terrorist and that she could not just leave her O2 in the car and come back without it. With the spotlight on cylinders being used in bombs it is probably not the best of times to be seen with a cylinder and I can just imagine the policemans faces should they spot checking some users cars! Not sure what can be done about it, she called her supplier and they offerered to do her a letter and her GP said the same and she is now carrying photo ID as well, but most of the suspects in the latest round were in the medical proffesion so how convinced the police would be by a letter is hard to say.

Anyway, she told me to pass on her experience to people so they are forewarned so to speak.

ps she said the police were very nice just very suspicous and did not understand

Thanks for the info Bex,

I always have my O2 in the car though I do have a TREM card and a green sticker on the back. I am picking up my Mum on Friday but she is getting a train from Gatwick to here! Phew!

Letters and ID sound a good idea - I hope it works.

Hey,

As you know I have been on o2 for quite sometime, I was wondering where do you get the stickers and cards from? And are they magnetic? (dad will not stick a sticker to is car... not a chance) We regularly travel with anything from large B10 cylinders to full liquid cylinders in the boot so I think we need one.

Sorry a bit off topic. As you know I have been on o2 for quite sometime, I was wondering where do you get the stickers and cards from? And are they magnetic? You can get flexible magnetic sticky sheet stuff off ebay or from baker ross (sells crafty stuff) that you can stick the oxygen stickers to then cut round. Works on most cars. Not lost one yet....

Oooh, not thought of magneting the stickers - I bung mine in the rear window - they peel of easily after 3 years - even quicker with an ice scraper! lOL.

I get my stickers from St John suplies but you can get the TREM card from your O2 suppliers (eg Vitalair)

must admit SJS does rock for more or less anything :) get mine from there cos the ones airproducts provide are rubbish!! not AP are very good anyway lol
