Hi Amanda I had a difficult appt yest with my Dr to ask, ok beg, for an expensive inhaler that he really doesn't want to prescribe me! I hope you get on ok, try not to worry. Drs are only human too! All the best.

Hi,

Good luck! Depends on the doctor really - if they're good they might tick you off a bit and tell you to make sure you come in sooner but they shouldn't make you feel bad, just resolved to come in sooner next time. If they do make you feel bad perhaps change which one you see! When all this started with me about a year/year and a half ago the GP told me to come back in 2 weeks if I was still breathless and it ended up being nearly 2 months - it wasn't that bad then and I got distracted. I got a gently reproachful 'you do need to come back and see us if the medication hasn't worked'.

Just remember you're an adult, and while you do need to take care and go and see them when they say, you don't have to feel like you're at school and they're allowed to tick you off - they should generally remember that! But I know the feeling - I have a consultant appt next week and I feel like I'm going to court, not the hospital - keep imagining them picking holes in what I say and asking 'but if it's bad, why didn't you do X?' and 'why didn't you take your Ventolin then?' I don't think it will be like that (hope not!) - probably just know too many lawyers - but it's hard to stop thinking about it as though they were trying to catch you out.

Good luck and let us know how you get on - sorry this is so long!

thank you. In my gps you never see the same dr twice. I feel like i made a fuss over nothing even though i did the right thing by seeing someone. Im going to write down the points and thing i need to get across and i got the be in control pack from auk to take with me as help.

Im really nervous about seeing the gp
