Steroids and Xenical

I was wondering if anyone else is on xenical and on long term pred?

How does it effect the weight loss by being on pred?

Ive been on it for 2 weeks now and have seen a bit of weight loss.

Hi,

Don't really know what the evidence is for weight loss on Xenical and pred, but I have noticed that when I have managed to lose weight while on high dose pred (either by being ill or by extreme calorie restriction - would not recommend either method!) the weight seems to go preferentially from my arms and legs, leaving me looking even more predified (or Cushingoid) than before, with a big stomach and thin arms and legs. Other folks experience may be different, though,

One thing I would say is to be wary of Xenical if you have any absorption problems, eg with pred or theophyllines, as it can make them worse. Make sure you take your tablet asthma meds at a different time of day from both Xenical and food, and if you experience any worsening of your asthma symptoms, be aware that it may be down to reduced absorption of meds due to the Xenical.

I had an initial weight loss off about 1 stone over the first 3mths then tailed off to nothing which when i stopped went back on again, upon restarting it in havent lost much but it has stopped me gaining the usual 1stone a year i have since starting on the pred? which i suppose is something. Am currently in hosp for strict pred reduction under supervision and iv ammino cover aswell as new sputum sample to detect asthma deterioration before it happens, cons reccons if can get to 10mgs which is as low as can get then swaps me over to a new injection steroid sparer his aim will be a 3st weight loss by xmas!! cant wait woukd be a dream, id be happy with 2st?
