montelucast

asthma nurse says might have to go on montelucast, if the double dose doesnt work after two weeks, anyone on it ?

I was, but I got taken off due to it worsening my condition.

I am and it's been pretty amazing! I am now on a double dose and still not really controlled but definitely better than before. I really notice if I miss a dose.

If it does work for you you should start to notice the difference pretty quickly, as in within a few days. Likewise though if you miss even a single dose you will also notice so you have to be really careful to remember to take it!

I hope it does work for you as it can be really effective if so and I think is relatively side-effect free, at least in adults. I certainly haven't noticed anything.

Not sure what you mean, are you already on montelukast or a double dose of something else? I have been on it for years but just stopped recently alongside with seretide & starting reflux medication.

tj just had a cold and waking up again on the night so told to take 4 puffs of seretide instead of two then if doesnt improve they may start me on montelucast they said

I was put on montelukast for a month I was put on it after I had a horrid cold which cleared up but left me with a cough for a very long time montelukast worked really well for me ! I'm not on it at the moment as dr wanted to see what happened afterwards and guess What I've got a cold and coughing again !! Hopefully when I see dr in new year I will be allowed to continue on the montelukast ! It gave me much improvement and from everything I've read its a very helpful drug with barely any side effects good luck to you hope you improve soon x

My son was put on it about 7 yrs ago - seemed to help. He's still on it (adult dose now). Some people have reported side effects but he hasnt had any.
