Hi, I have just been let out of hospital into the care of the ""Hospital at Home Team""

Has anybody else encountered this, if so thoughts or comments, good, bad or indifferent ?

Never heard of it but it sounds great! Presume it means nurses call in?? Let us know.

Glad to hear you're back home.

I don't fully understand it myself but it sounds something similar to what a district nurse would do.

Apparently they were short of beds and because I am self medicating (I'm a clever lad lol) they went through some forms with me and did a risk assessment and in the end said I could stay in or come home under this scheme.

No brainer really.

The main bullet points of it are.

I must remain housebound :-(

I will get at least 1 or 2 home visits per day, all my usual hospital tests will then be carried out, eg sats, pf, bloods, general observation, etc etc.

I am still under the care of the hospital and not my GP.

Should I feel unwell I am to contact the Hospital at Home team and not my GP.

The Home Team are to decide and control my medicines until further notice.

Sounds interesting

That sounds really good.

Dont think they do it at our hospital but maybe they do but not heard of it

but sounds a really good thing xxxx

New to me to, I know that they want to manage more people this way where possible, will be interesting to see how it pans out. Let us know your experiences.

this may seem like a strange answer, but at the mo am living in fance, n over here the hospital at home system is used very widely and regularly. i myself am on a permanant hosp at home, when am not actually trappd in the hossie....yeah, i dunno, it sounds just the same as here, visits several times a day from nurses and helpers, check with hosse if unwell, night and weekend cal an ambulance, maybe thats not ur case? let me know, im thinking of.moving bak to the uk quite soon...

Well the upside is that the food has to be better, you get to sleep in your own bed, and you can forgo being exposed to other people's infections. I think I would give it a try too. Let us know if you have a good experience if you get a chance...or if you come across any downsides.

Take care!

Bee

Ive never heard of it either. Let us know how you get on.

Btw, i hate hosp, but i quite like the food!

Hope you feel better soon

Howie

i dont know what this is either, never heard of it, being a nurse i have obviously heard of similar things for diff circumstances .... moreso with children than adults :( but i dont forsee any downsides!!

i suppose the only one would be dependance :( . . .

hope urs is a good experience, let us know how u get on, get well soon and keep ur chin up :)

howie, in response to ur reply, i agree i DISPISE COSTA, but the food as somewhat improved recently, maybe jamie the naked chef has been around lol :-D

Had the first visit today, was a fairly positive visit I thought. My treatment and condition is discussed by my cons and the home team, my sats etc were checked and recorded, we had a chat about how I was feeling and what I was to do should my sats drop to a certain level. They will be back tomorrow and intend to run some tests etc.

Got to say that it feels pretty good to have this kind of support rather than feeling a little abandoned and alone like what is usually the case following an escape from costa.

Early days yet but so far so good.

Glad it went well for you x

good news yorkeirion, glad its going well and u getting support, long may it continue :)

keep well
