When im out in the cold i always breath in and out through my nose and scalf round my mouth. Took a while to build up but do it ok now xxx
To paraphrase the TellyTubbies. Uh-oh!
snowygirl - First and foremost, do check with your GP as apparently not suitable for all asthmatics and could make it worse. Plus its not a do it yourself thing and needs a proper practitioner to take you through it. By all means look at buteyko but also do a search on the forum pages. Lots of pages on pros and cons.
As GrannyMo says talk it through with doc etc.and read up on it as doesnt help everyone xxx
Quote from BMA book 'Understanding Asthma' (an excellent publication). ""This (Buteyko) technique has been suggested as a treatment for asthma, but it more likely treats the 'hyperverventilation' (excessively fast breathing) seen in some individuals with asthma. This technique may reduce symptoms in some but does not affect the underlying asthma"".
thanks guys
i will talk it through with gp. not sure if will help though as i know i dont 'hyperventilate' during attacks
if only!! ..... i went to a resp physio last year - referred by ex-asthma nurse (who was a witch - sorry) who did a hyperventilation scoring test and i scored 0 and also had to see how long had to hold my breath for, i did over 60 secs, which also went against her opinion that i was hyperventilating a little during attacks....
just thought it would help as a kind of relaxation technique??
any ideas
