Flu jab?

Anybody had theirs yet? I'm having mine on Saturday morning :(

Not looking forward to it because i was really poorly after having it last year. The nurse assures me it was fluke and i was probably brewing the flu before hand.

At least its earlier this year.

flu jab

hi julie,

i had my flu jab today, always reluctant to have it. I too am ill after it, starts with the flu then ends up on my chest. My gp says although i get the flu after it, it is only a mild form.

Hi,

I got my flu jab last Saturday - last year was ill after it - this year I have been fine. So hopefully you will be too.

Oh & Harriet - dont worry the needle is tiny - you barely feel it.

Had mine monday and apart from a sore arm and a nice red mark that is where jab was given am fine. b4 anyone asks yes it is bigger than 10pence piece but what they going to do about it if you tell them? anyway not got anyworse and arm still attached to body lol.

Hi Julie

Hope the jab goes well:-)

I had mine on Monday and for the first time no allergic reaction - felt a little achy so took co-codamol and nothing has brewed this year for the first time:-)

had mine last saturday, plus pneumonia one.... one in each arm...

Flu one - not a problem.... had it 3 times now and all ok each time.

Pneumonia - at least its only every 10 years - flu symptoms started after about 8 hours, and after 5 days, arm is still not back to usual size though the hand sized red patch has finally gone...

oh well....

Had mine yesterday. Shoulders feel a wee bit achy but otherwise fine.

Had blood pressure checked as I was about to leave the surgery (I have prescription to treat high blood pressure) Dotor used a new electronic BP monitor which kills the blood circulation to your arm when it expands (not really but it wasn't half tight). I couldnt quite tell if it was 195 or 175 over 95. Doctor refused to record it or tell me what it said - he blamed it on the injection - I was surprised it had that much impact on me cos I'm not scared of needles or anything

Had mine last monday, swelling is going down. Was a nasty surprise to find my GP suddenly deciding I had to have my flu jab half way through my appointment!Oh well least its done! :D

had my flu jab saturday. Alls good so far, not much ache in my arm this year either. Hope thats a good sign!!

Nurse won't let me have mine till my asthma controlled again :-(

flu jab!!! grrrrrrrrrrr

I'm due to have my flu and pneumonia jabs tomorrow, keeping fingers crossed that all will be well. Never had pneumonia jab before and flu jab usually makes me feel fluey for a few days afterwards.

My son had his flu jab nine days ago and for the first time in years it hasnt induced a splat followed by admission! He developed a cough within 24 hrs that still lingering but looks like we avoided the costa trip :-)

Every time my son got ill after flu jab there was always some doc who would try and convince me it was co incidence which I would argue against every year. The day my son had his jab I was due to have mine but didnt want to risk us both being ill so re booked mine for later in month. He had the Jab on the saturday and on the Sunday I woke up with heavy cold and felt lousy for about a week. If I had the jab as planned I would have blamed the flu jab 100% so I guess some cases are co incidence that a virus is already in body.

I had my jab last week and i have had a grumpy chest since then but i did have a cold brewing but i do react to it although the jab site itself was fine.

No swelling but my arm ached a tad after for a couple of hours.

hey,

due my flu jab at start of next week and getting bloods at same time - eek!! I hate needles so much!

How long after jab to people normally feel ill? i normally end up in bed for a day or 2 but can't remember how long after it.

Been having annual flu jab for nearly 40 years now. Never had a problem with it, other than a sore arm as from any injection. If you've ever had 'flu, (by which I mean the real McCoy, not the heavy cold variety which so many people irritatingly refer to a ""a touch of 'flu"" - there being no such thing) it knocks you completely for six for at least two weeks and causes real problems to anyone with asthma. By comparison, a sore arm & a feeling of slight unwellness is a breeze! So give thanks for 'flu jabs.

had mine on tues and been achy and feeling pretty rough since, but reducing pred so may well be that.

I had my flu jab a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had it before and i didn't have any problems. I also have M.E and it didn't even make that any worse! I was worried as i have heard people say it made them really unwell, but i was fine. I did catch a cold but it was 2 weeks after and was just a coincidence.

Hope it hasn't made you feel too unwell.

Hi all,

I had my flu and pneumonia jabs together on tuesday and was fine to begin with, however I ended up at emergency GP's yesterday with very painful ribs and a temperature. The doctor linked it to my flu jab and said I have inflammation of my intercostal muscles. And there was me thinking I'd escaped any sort of reaction to it this year!

Sparkly Fairy

I had mine the first day my GP surgery started clinics.

It was a doddle. Teeny bit sore and a bit bruised for a few days but nothing compared to flu!

I had a frined come along with me but whilst I was in having my jab she almost fainted! Bless.

Stay well everyone.

I had my flu jab today and even though I have a cold my asthma nurse still gave it to me was she right to do that? cause I feel really poorly.

Got my jab last Thursday during asthma review.

Had a raised red circle patch on my arm all week - was kinda relieved when it returned to normal!

On seeing my local surgery's extreme Flu Jab decorations last week- (posters, balloons, leaflets, banners and mobiles) I thought i'd gotten away with it- only going in for a review, no jab for me!-

---Wrong! ""y'know... this time of year you really wouldn't want flu with your asthma so poorly controlled...""

Yep, sure enough the fridge was stacked with enough flu vaccine for the Greater London area to have the flu jab. Twice.

My dad of course thought the Stealth-Jab was hilarious, asking why I didn't get a balloon for being 'big and bwave'.
