Easi-Breathe Inhalers

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else has problems with the easi-breathe inhalers ""mis-firing"" when you try to take them, 'cos I've been on easi-breathe relievers for a while and I keep finding they misfire. I keep them clean and when I wash the mouth piece I make sure it's dry before putting it back together again but it still squirts in my face each time I open the cap or other times (even if it's a new inhaler) no medicines squirts out when I inhale. Does anyone else get this and is there anyway of fixing this?

hi becca, yes i have and do! I'm on the same inhaler and it sometimes does the same thing to me, most annoying when u need it! Bad news is tho, i've yet to find out why it happens or how to stop it! I'm naughty and don't clean mine so it can't be to do with that. Sometimes i find it happens a lot and other times it doesn't happen for months on end. Not much help I know but your not the only one it happens to!

If i work it out i'll let u know

you have to put the screw on cap on upright and with the lid closed

Moose1 yep I get that, it'll be ""good"" for a while then it'll start again, and it always decides to misfire when I really need it! lol.

I'm going to ask to have a different type of inhaler at my next asthma review 'cos it's annoying and also I can't find anywhere that makes anything big enough to carry it around in all the time, without having to take a bag which can be a pain! lol.

Becca, perhaps ask for a MDI? Unless u find it hard to push down and breathe in at the same time. I did have Airmir Autohaler but it's not much smaller than the easi-breathe and the lever at the top is a bit noisey but it might be worth a try?

Can't harm to ask dr to specifty type tho on prescription

Thanks, that's a good idea. I'll ask about a MDI. I used to have one ages ago but hated carrying around the spacer!

I've got my review soon so i'll ask about the different types then.

hi guys;

my pharmacist kept trying to give me one of these, and i've always refused them, and having read this i'm glad!

if you want a DPI, you could try the asmasal inhaler, thats about the size of a very square puffer, and works quite well.. i used to have that one, but am now on a ventolin accuhaler coz i wanted 200mcg rather than 100 (when i asked my gp he looked at me like i was crazy... but i used to have a 400mcg diskhaler!)

I've now got salbutamol autohaler's specified on my repeat as opposed to easibreathe which i didn't like and have never had a problem with aeromir ( apparently has a vaguely gin and tonic taste - haven't actually noticed!)

Although i've never had an MDI reliever, i do prefer the Easi-breathe inhaler, seems to help more than the other one i had. I don't tend to open the top of my easi-breathe inhaler, like i said, i rarely wash em, so i'm not convinced it can all be down to just not closing the top when the mouth piece is open, also when i do take the top off, i always put it back with the mouth piece closed. I think however annoying it is, will just have to ignore it :o/

I spoke to my doctor. He reckons i should try an autohaler (?) i think that's what he called it. I'm not sure, i'll give it a go i think. Does anyone else use these and are they any good?

Becca, i used a autohaler before going back to the easi-breathe. I found it to be a bit more powerful when i breathed in but got used to it. I found it difficult simply because it makes a noise when u put the top lever down and i don't like drawing attention to myself when taking my reliever, i may have had asthma for 21 yrs but i have only recently (this yr) started taking my reliever in public, used to just get on with tight chest etc...

Hope u get on well with new reliever, let me know how u get on?

Hmmm, not sure yet 'cos i really hate people realising i'm taking my inhaler (I get teasing at school about it so i try to avoid drawing attention to myself taking it)

I'll ask about it a bit more i think before i change inhalers.
