ANYONE had shingles ? ANY advice welcome? am in hosp cos asthma not happy

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that you have shingles, I know it can be really unpleasant. I have never had it myself, but I do get neuropathic (nerve) pain in my hands and feet secondary to critical care neuropathy. It's a similar sort of pain to shingles pain, as it originates from damaged nerves, and shingles pain is due to inflammation of the nerves by the virus.

I see from your post about TENS machines that you have a pain expert coming to see you - I hope they will be able to offer something helpful. I found my local Pain Management Centre very helpful for my pain. Neuropathic pain does need specialist treatment, as it doesn't necessarily respond to the usual painkillers.

I won't go into the treatment of neuropathic pain at length now, as you have expert help coming soon anyway, but do get in touch if you want more info, I have quite a lot of useful stuff if you need it.
