Morning Vicky

I don't have any experience of them personally but I know this topic has been discussed a couple of times before. If you type 'air purifiers' into the search it will bring up previous posts. This may help until some more knowledgeable person comes along!

Hiya,

I have an air purifier for my bedroom. I guess it depends what your mum wants one for in order to give advice on the best sort to get.

I have pet allergy and an allergy to dust mites, and my HEPA air purifier has made a positive difference to the quality of air in my home. You need to bear in mind though that you still need to get plenty of fresh air in your house through the windows as an air purifier is only basically recycling the current air and removing the airborne polutants such as dust, mould, pet dander and dust mite nasties.

Be sure to look out for ones that do not have ionisers or at least ionisers that you can turn off separately, as these can actually exarcebate asthma symptoms. My HEPA air filter cost me £60 initially, with an additional annual cost of about £30 to replace the filter in it. which is not a bad investment.

Its probably useful to look out for one that runs in silent mode if its going to be used primarily in the bedroom, as some of the HEPA air filters can be quite noisy in their most productive modes. I run mine 24/7 in low mode which is very quiet but still keeps the air in my room clean and pollutant free.

Drop me a pm if I can help any more! Chiara xxx

Ive read that Filtrete air purifiers are even more efficient than HEPA equivalent ( antiallergyproducts.com )

Im gonna give it a try to see if it helps me

PS I noticed its much cheaper on EBAY than at any web site or allergy shop, so always double check on ebay if you are on a budget
