Pain in lower back?

Hi all, I have been much improved of late after starting Symbicort back in Jan. The past couple of days though I have a chronic lower back pain when I cough, take a deep breath to take inhalers or when I am wheezy. I am taking painkillers but it is keeping me awake at night. Anyone else ever had this? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I get lots of back pain too.

See if you can get some 30/500 co codamol from your doc.

They help, but will make you very sleepy.

I take a couple of these every four hours to help.

I also use a tens machine, it really does help, especially when driving.

You can set it so it feels like its massaging your back.

Just ensure the electrodes are pushed right in & the pads are secure.

If not, it can give you a bit of a belt.

Hope you get it sorted

Howie

I suffer from back pain but only because i have damanged my spine and have scoliosis. I would talk to your doctor about differnet pain relief that is out there, I was put on 8/500 of co-codamol first despite the pain being very severe, as doctors like to start patients on lower dose first and am now on 30/500 which is still not working.

I would say not to just go on painkillers and is not the best option out there, it is not a good thing to be on painkillers long term and that is why i am trying to get off mine, as the experiance i have is that the painkillers can make you feel worse and stop you from being able to do daily rountine, as make you very tired and make you feel very druggeed up which is not a nice feeling. I have to take 8 of them a day.

if you have chronic pain in the lower back you should talk to your doctor about using a TENS machine, they sell them in loads of places, and are very effective. as i use one now after not wanting to be on so many painkillers, and it is like heaven, it is really good, and takes most of the pain meaning i can carry on with things while using it, while with the tablets i have to lay down after taking them as made me feel that drowsy.

i would really reccomdend a TENS to anyone with chronic lower back pain, but i strongly advise do not buy one without talking to your doctor first

Thanks all for your replies. I will look into your recommendations. Keep well.
