Symbicort and wieght gain.

Hi I was wondering if any of you guys on here have suffered wieght gain since taking this medication?

Hey!

I have always thot this, but have been told by many doctors that it shouldnt happen as the steroid within isnt of a high enough dose to increase appetite to then cause the weight gain!

I was on Symbicort for a few years, during which my weight remained reasonably stable. I wonder if different people might react differently to it? I've certainly had weight gain from long-term prednisolone - maybe 15 kg since starting taking it way back in 1997, but I know that other people have had a lot more than that, and other people who've had a lot less, so I guess each person is different.

Highly unlikely, steriod dose not high enough, any weight gain may be down the the possibility that lack of control is forcing you to undertake less exercise, therefore impacting on the weight. Oral Steriods over extended periods of time will affect your weight. If you are at all concerned how your weight is impacting on your lifestyle chat to a health professional.
