I used it as Intal from the age of 6-14 when i then moved onto steroid inhalers. It is supposed to be quite good for exercise and allergy asthma but from what i have been told is rarely used as steroid inhalers seem to have better results.
I did ask my GP about it for my daughter and was basically laughed at and told it was almost relegated to the history books which is sad.
hi
I was put on sodium cromo (intael) about a year ago now with budesonide at the same time .. i dint find much improvement with it and it tasted absaloutly fowel it really did leave a horrid taste in my mouth and my throat felt very weird after using it.. It was finally changed to symbicort 400/12 my chest hasn't improved on this but at least it dont taste as bad x
I used to have intal nebs as a child i fondly remember getting bits of glass stuck in my hand as the came in glass ampules you had to break both ends off.
I was put on tilade(mint) for a while about ten years ago but it didn't really help,Sodium cromoglycate was the main preventer used years ago combined with ventolin syrup and theophyllines i believe before we had all the excellent steroid preventers and much better inhalers around now.
Don't know if used much now but the tilade used to taste vile!
lol i knew it was old and it prooves my oint when the hospital dosen't even stock it!!! its just somthing else they thoughht they could try as i have tried prtty much everything else and going nowhere at the moment .... i suppose its jjust time eh!!!
Used it donkeys years ago, what a performance, put a little capsule in an inhaler, move inhaler up and down to break capsule, then suck and inhale, it was disgusting and didn't work for me. Used Tilade original and Mint and they were foul too. Asthma inhalers have improved big time since that stuff.
It's horses for courses! I have found Sodium Cromoglycate useful all my life, so I thought I would balance this thread. I happen to use Tilade (and quite like the mint actually), although have taken the Intal version but when it was called Intal Compound (with an added reliever), and I didn't mind the Spinhaler routine at all - I took this over decades!!
I still count myself as a mild asthmatic (despite peak flows being rather low as a rule but I am used to it!) hence not upgrading to a steroid inhaler, however that may happen in the future - but I am fairing better now than at this time last year (using reliever infrequently now) so I am not upsetting the apple cart just yet!!

The 'bad' taste is basically the only side effect... it's not food; it is medicine. This stuff saved my life and I requested this specifically when I went back on a preventer. The hospitals and pharmacies don't stock it because it is expensive. It is antihistamine too I believe x
