Asthma or not??

Is it possible to have a really tight chest and be a little short of breath but no wheeze or cough? Inhaler only easing tightness for a short time then it's back again. Never felt like this before so unsure if it's asthma or not? Going to try and see doc tomorro if I can get in

yep.

not all asthmatics wheeze and there are a lot of elements to asthma that not all asthmatics display. Maybe worth reviewing your inhalers and possibly switching them.

I am awaiting diagnosis of asthma, I'd origionally gone with symptoms of exercise induced asthma but I also get periods of tight chest and breathlessness when not exercising too, so with my trial of inhaler I thought id see if it helped these too. As you found, I found a big relief to start with too, then it would come back. As I don't have a definate diagnosis I wondered if it was just something else too. my peak flow does reduce on these occasions too. Let me know what the doc said to you, I'm not seeing mine for another two weeks.

It turns out it is asthma. Seen doc today and confirmed it is a flare up of my asthma so am now on a course of pred. Will hopefully start feeling better soon
