Ventolin dosage

Does anyone else find that when they really need to use their ventolin that 2 puffs does no good? I have started to find that it works better and helps if i use 4 puffs together instead of 2?

Everones doseage is individual to them, my 11yr old has 10 puffs when needed sometimes every 1-2 hours. He has been having 10 puffs for several years now.

I often ahve more than 2 at a go, and up to 10 if needed. Depends on how my lungs are feeling! Hope you start to feel better soon Kath - make sure you take it easy!

I find that sometimes, especially just lately. Personally i take 2 puffs and then wait about 5 - 10 mins and take more if not sorted out. Asthma nurse told me once to just keep taking it as much as i needed to and when i need to.

I asked my GP about holiday plan and she said with the ventolin inhaler I could take 2 puffs every 20mins for up to an hr if neb not nearby. When at home I take 2-4 puffs of inhaler then if still bad have been told to wait 10-15 mins then i can neb. But with the wet weather when i've got tight i have just used the neb as i find the inhaler dose not work. Before i got a batt neb i was allowed 10puffs though spacer the big volumatic style. I was told that 10 puffs is the same as a 2.5mg neb. But i use 5mg so no wounder i still felt ill.

I often find that when i take my symbicort inhaler (preventer) that it makes my chest go tighter before relieving my symptoms so straight after i find that i have to take 2 puffs of my ventolin inhaler to relieve my symptoms

my daughter who is 6 has 10 puffs every 2- 4 hours sometimes sooner we've been giving this for the last 21/2 years . Everyone is different my asthma is well controlled but I usually need 4 puffs all at once . Nikki xx

When I am not good rather than having a neb one of my GP's prefers 4 puffs of ventolin every 2 hours for 24 hours. If there is no improvemnet then he insists on pred and nebs but he won't give nebs without pred as well.

Ventolin

Hello, I have just joined the e-mails, and your message about Ventolin, was intriguing, as I take seretide as well as Ventolin. I do find that sometimes when I take the ventolin, it isn't enough, as it takes sometimes a half-an-hour, before it works, and I get really sweaty, so need to sit down. So maybe, 4 puffs would benefit, instead of 2. How long have you been taking Ventolin?

hi I also use seritide 250 morning and night but use ventolin to get through the day. at moment have got flixotide as well but am eating ventolin but def find its more effective if i have 4 puffs oppose to 2
