Pred shortage

I dont know if its same shortage as Bex had few months back and us up north only just got!!!! but up north at mo is a shortage on our little happy pills, so just a warning to order early just in case.

Probably Pfizer's financial issues as they had problems recently with pred - I am OK now and can get 5mg ones.

Any drugs made by Pfizer (sp?) are in short supply - as I have issues with several of my meds being Pfizer are forever in and out of stock so gp has alternatives on my repeat just in case !!

Luckily my steroids aint one of them !!

Local independent chemist didn't have any pred today but Boots were ok use different supplier.

Is anybody else worried but what do we do if theres none anywhere? whats the alternative?

Is this just a Pfizer brand shortage or a Pred regardless of brand or generic shortage. The three types I know are Pfizer Deltacortryl EC, Prednisolone EC and the un coated ones ( generics)

Big Eeeeeeks if it is the whole lot! (now shall I cut down to make mine last longer ? NOOOOOOO!)

Anyway< i hope it resolves itself even if I have to resort back to un coated ones or the generics which make me hyper - bonkers!

usually if you try different chemists someone can get them for you. if not there are other steroids which work as well so I'm sure we will all be ok - no need to panic yet - at least several companies make them, unlike diamorphine which disappeared when the company which made 95% of the UK supplies lost its production licence a couple of years ago.

Yeah had delivery off 100 little red gems!!!!

seems probs with pfizer and i kinda like them better, like u said not as hyper on them as bright red ones? oh well back to unstable mind of hyperactiveness!!!!

Like Owl said there are other steroids that can be given if pred does run out !!

I dont take pred as it stopped working alontime ago but I take Betamethasone tablets !!

In the BNF there is a dose equivalence table that tells you what dose of each steroid is equivalent to 5mg pred so its easy enough to work out !!

There are so many different steroids there is no need to panic !!

Easy said than done Donna as would involve a trip to docs for different presciption? its only like you worrying when didnt have your right type off meds in hey? Its the dreaded pred we worry when dont have too but better to worry a bit and be on guard than be left in the lurch!

If you speak to a dr in advance then it would be better than worrying wouldnt it !!

I know my GP would sort something like that out over the phone !!
