Hi...i was just wondering if somebody could help me because im a bit confused...Yesterday my reliever was changed from ventoli(salbutamol) to bricanyl (t...somethin) and it is a turbohalor...i find it quite difficult to use the turbohalor is there a bricanyl mdi inhalor available?
I had the same problem back in March when I was changed from salbutamol to bricanyl. There was a bricanyl MDI and some chemists with old stocks may still have it. Howevere they stopped making it back in December last year as it contained cfc's which are now banned. Apparently the company that make it are still looking for a cfc free propellent.
So at the moment there is only the Bricanyl turbohaler. Having said that when I was discharged from hospital two weeks ago they did give me a bricanyl MDIso if you are under a hospital it may be worth asking them.
Sorry I haven't been very helpful but I know what you mean about finding the turbohaler hard to use. My policy is to try and use the turbohaler but if I am really bad to use Salbutamol MDI. The only problem with that is you end up carrying a lot more.
Love
Steph xx
At present my mums chemist seems to be able to get the mdi's but like Steph said they were withdrawn from manufacture last december so wont be available again I doubt until cfc free propellant is found !!
Steph, I do the same. Mostly I use my bricanyl, but there are instances where it's too hard, so I always carry my ventolin as well. Take care
I don't use bricanyl but do use formoterol turbohaler which is the same action. I found it hard using the turbohaler at first then realised that the action is still quite similar to an ordinary inhaler if you don't use the spacer. Take a deep breathe in (if you can) and let it go then breathe in the turbohaler sucking at the same time. You may find you go a bit giddy the first time or 2 but then you get used to it. My daughter always found the bricanyl turbohaler easier than salbutamol with a spacer.
