started on 40mg pred on may 28th after 3rd big attack [&capture] within 2weeks ish, im now on 20mg pred getting tapered off of it. feeling asthma relapse-ish [for lack of better words], now, similar to how i feel after i've been on burst courses. this is the first long course ive been on, normally on 4-6 days 40mg then off them. with been on them since 28th i'd expect some sort of change with it? my peak flow is still low-ish [300], & tightness, with bits of shortness of breath. not sure whether i should go back & tell gp i feel worse now than i did when i got put on them or leave it till i finished course?
pred bit confused.: started on 40mg... - Asthma Community ...
pred bit confused.
Go and see your Gp. Do you get hay fever?
i do get hayfever but it doesnt seem to be playing up this year & I'm taking my allergy tablets for it.
I would go back to GP and speak to them about it...may be you need a slower tapper. If symptoms are not being controlled then you risk an exacerbation...might be better to nip things in the bud before they get to far out of hand.
cheers for the answers, ill bob to doctors tomorrow if i can & explain whats going on.
GP!!! Most common problems are when dropping around 25-15 (I was told this yesterday too although experience it every single time myself anyway) Often just need to hold on each dose for longer to let your body adjust better.
was on 5 days 40mg, 5 days 30, on 6th day of 20mg.. thought it'd be slow enough coming down but apparently not? not managed to get into doctors as i wasnt awake due to been awake most of the night coughing & stuff. had a reaction to some tablets last night which triggered asthma.
It is fairly slow but I have just been whacked back up to 60mg and my reductions are every 10-14 days by 5mg. To be fair this is the slowest reduction I have done, only one that was harder was reducing from 40 by 2.5mg a week by taking 40 one day 35 the next etc and then the next week 35 and 30. that was ridiculous. Hopefully they will get you sorted.
