pleurisy

Hi All

Does anyone have recurring pleurisy (different levels) when get a cold and then chest playing up?

I had a bad one 6 months ago - have been recovering well pleak flow levelled felt good and then October hits - get a cold and cons says pains again are the pleurisy.

Is it anything to worry about? does it stop recurring?

Hi Julie,

I get pleurisy to varying degrees - sometimes mild but others where it hurts to breathe! It isn't usually serious though so pain killers and warmth help.

Thanks - i was getting a bit worried - i wondered why the cons was so blaze about it - cause it blumming hurts and i'm a whimp

Its caused by inflammation of the pleura around your lungs so like any inflammation it hurts especially on movement but the lungs are one thing you cant rest, and when your more breathless there moving more thus causing more pain. So best treatment is anti inflammatorys which most of us cant take!! so pain killers and heat as kate said is a good one.

Thanks for advice last night i had a hot waterbottle all night and it helped enormously. It's just a mild attack this time and the hot water bottle is very very soothing - thank you. I wish i had used it 6 months ago with the bad attack. But i know what to do from now on
