With beautiful clear blue sky's and a crisp frost, it looks so inviting but it is not the time venture out too much as the cold can really trigger nasty broncospasms.
Currently in the fine county of Hertfordshire, it is still -1.8 at 10.45AM, had a low of -4.1 last night.
Best breathe through a scarf to take the edge off the air if you must brave it, but make sure peak flow is up to it first!!
Cold damp mist usually burns off come mid-morning on a bright day, so posponing an early morning stroll to get a paper might be wise!!

the cold air is a problem for me, especially as I work outside, and like to cycle, run, but have to find a way around that, so I now wear a thermal buff to cover my throat,mouth and nose and a nice thermal hat to keep my head and ears warm, been OK last few days, although not been out apart from doing a few walks, benefit from living in the somerset/dorset country.
I'd like it to warm up just a bit, so I can go for a bike ride, but I'd rather stay well, only just above freezing at the moment, so more staying indoors, shame when I have to go back to work, next weeks looking even colder.
I don't mind the cold, can always add an extra layer, but today its been cold and grey, hopefully tomorrow in Herefordshire we shall get some of that Blue Sky Gorn Fishing, can you send it over please.
You can trick your body into not knowing how cold it is by wrapping up in thermals and lots of layers etc, and walking briskly etc. But breathing in fresh cold air can be another matter -all your wrapping up will be wasted if you do as the body is no fool! -to some of us it has the same outcome as the allergic response with pollen causing runny nose etc, but it is the airways tightening you need to watch. You can beat it however by breathing through a scarf or buff that woody-som mentioned.
I do have a concern about this however -and that is what happens to all the minute fluff that is breathed in over time -does it get coughed up or does it stay in the lungs??!
Would be interested to hear any views on this!!

Sorry don't know what happens Twizzle, Gorn Fishing you didn't send the blue skies, we have had a dusting of snow today though in Hereford!
Well it might be cold outside but still sleeping under my summer 4.5 tog duvet, found the 10.5 too hot. I must be HOT STUFF, ha ha.
Twizzle50: I'm not sure on the breathing in of the fluff, but thats why I don't like scarfs much as they tend to be more fluffy, and the buff is so convenient, that you can just waer it around the throat, over the mouth or a full balaclava. Not had any problems with it over the last few months, it's more like cotton, and the thermal one I have, if you fold it right, then you get the cotton section over the nose and mouth with the tick insulating layer in front of that, but the non insulated version is also great for the slightly warmer days.
