Cold, or something...

Just wondering if this is a cold that's going round? I thought I had a cold, but it seemed to go away. Then it kind of came back and has been sitting on my chest for a few days, making me cough a bit and feel like there's mucus down there, and it feels irritated. I keep expecting it to get worse but luckily it hasn't so far. Certainly something going on though as asthma a bit worse and PF has dropped a bit (wasn't expecting that!)

Has anyone else had this? Don't get me wrong, I'm very pleased it hasn't got worse! I'm just a bit puzzled, as I would have thought given previous experience that it would have got worse by now or gone away, but has just been sitting there and I know there's something down there that won't come out! Maybe I'm just too impatient. Seeing GP on Monday about something else, wondered about asking him but not much he can do if it's just a cold (and we're still trying to get the asthma medication sorted so not much he can do there either).

I think it is just a nasty bug, I have had something similar, asthma has worsened but not so bad that I have had to seek medical support. I have just increased my nebs and hope this little bug toddles off.

Yeah I've had just that! I had a cold two weeks or so ago then this week developed a mucusy cough and I was really wheezy for the first 2 days or so but its calmed now and I'm left with the cough and its not developed into anything else. Is really weird!

Hope you feel better!

Same here. I'd put it down to having the grandkids around but most of my friends (all are non-asthma) have some sort of cold or chestiness at the moment.

Thanks for the replies! Relief - I'm not the only one, though of course I wish none of us had it! I was just immensely confused by the way it sits there, clearly doing something in my lungs, and threatens to get worse but never does. Normally I find colds that go to my chest go there and really let me know about it (last time it felt like someone was sticking a knife in my ribs every time I coughed).

Let's hope this one continues to be relatively toothless. At least I know it's probably not the result of me enjoying myself at Bonfire Night! I'm seeing resp physio on Monday as well so let's see if she can help - I'm getting, yet again, that very frustrating thing where the mucus sits and won't shift, though no doubt it won't be in evidence when I see her.

Hi Philomela,

I have had the same. I had what seemed like a cold starting for one day, 2 1/2 weeks ago. Then it went away but has affected my asthma ever since and I am using more ventolin than before that 'cold' day and able to do less physically. What a strange bug!! xxx
