i'll join in this one!!

at the start of the year i was planning on losing 2 stone over the year.. so far i've put on 10lbs in the last 6 weeks of pred.. oops :(

I was doing soooo well at the end of last year - but that dreaded pred has caused some real problems. Am trying to munch on carrot sticks rather than choc.

Have managed to lose 2 kilos in the last 2 weeks despite the pred so am hoping that am back on right track again.

Will keep u posted.

I'll join the weight loss gang i just weighed myself and am now sat eating crisps while typing to cheer self up. Consultant told me have to to lose a stone so got a bike for my birthday to aid my fitness campaign. Haven't made it out of garage yet.....

Hi, I'm a newbie!

Just thought I'd add my two-penn'oth - I used to weigh 26 stone in 2003, but now I'm down to 13½ stone, so I've managed to shed 12½ stone so far.

Sounds good....until you realise that I've been 13½ stone for the last 8 months - I think they call it a ""plateau."" I find I'm more frantic about losing weight now, than I ever was while at 26 stone! If anyone has any ideas on how to get off this bloomin' plateau, then I shall be eternally grateful!

I attribute my weight loss, so far, to two things, generally: being vegan, and my consultant taking me off prednisolone tablets a few years back, after osteoporosis & other probs set in. Unfortunately, my chest is very slowly going downhill again, so if I ever have to go on those terrible little red pills again, I shall scream!

Ramble over!

Rosalind.

Hi,

I'm new to this site, it's a great idea.

Reading some of the messages here I think I'm quite lucky with my asthma. I'm not on Pred, and only using symbicort twice a day, with salbutamol very occasionally.

But back to this thread - I'm trying to lose weight, have been for years it seems.

I exercise regularly - I cycle to work and do water workout once a week. I try very hard to avoid chocolate and crisps and cheese, though it doesn't always work. It's even worse when my brother buys a huge pack of mini eggs, and leaves them in a bowl on the dining room table!

But I don't seem to lose very much weight, if anything. I know pred can cause weight gain, but what about symbicort?

I should probably join weight watchers or something, but I just hate the idea of paying somebody £5 a week for them to tell me what I already know - namely to eat less chocolate and eat more fruit & veg. It probably doesn't help that I hate raw veg, and green veg in general.

Anyway, I seem to be rambling here so I'll stop and get back to work ;o)

Cheers,

J

Hi

I would love to join ! I gone from a size 10/12 to a size 20 ! since I started on pred 2 years ago and now I got my bone scan results back and there is a prob with the spine I been told that weight loss would be a good thing for me ( tell me something I did not know) Con said try and swim a little a couple of times a week which I did try the other week and ended up with a bad chest infection yet again. I live on the top of a darn hill so its not like I can set off for a walk, I could drive down the hill and walk a little on the flat but I get panicky as I worry about an attact starting when out on my own. I think it may help a little if I could report in once a week on here to say how well or how bad I am doing with my weight. It may just give me the kick I need.

So here I go I am going to have this last cake now and try not to have any binges over the weekend, If I get over the weekend that will be my first step.

I definitely need to join your gang.

I will make the first public announcement of my weight here. I am now 14st 11lb!!!

AHHHHHHH

I am on long term pred but think that recently I have been just using this as an excuse for what is really an addiction to eating. I like my food!!

I have just gone back to work after 6 weeks off (2 weeks in Costa!) and have now fallen into the trap of eating for energy. When I get tired I eat to get a boost, but am probably eating all the wrong things (Crisps and biscuits)

I have put on 4lbs in a week. Am off to clinic in the next week and am sure I am going to get moaned at.

Any helpful suggestions greatfully recieved, except possibly the eat carrot stick suggestion from Rusty. Carrots vs Crisps - no contest!!!

WELL DONE AGAIN !

Watch this space for my weight.

ps Are you doing excersise's if what as I just been declared dissabled !! so walking / any excersise that puts to much strain on the lungs my cause me probs.

Any help will be greatly received.

Chrissi

OK PPL!!!

Middle of december 2004 I was 17st 6lbs ... just over a year and loads of G&B's free pred weeks later ... 14st 12.5lbs ... Still unbelievably overweight only being 5ft 5 and, worse still back on the pred, for this week anyway ... oh well, back to the exercise bike.

Well done everyone, keep up the good work

Chonse x-x-x

Am not doing any exercise at the moment am having bad time with my chest and have a serious spianl problem. Hoping to do some strengthening exercises later and even some walking when weather is a bit better!

Went into Hosp at 91/2stone, 4 months later up to 11 stone! I know it's symbicort as am exercising loads and eating little - any ideas on when effects of pred an symb subside? V frustrated!!

Hi

Can I join your gang....

have been pred dependant for 2 years put on about 4 stone.... i was not small before.

I have started to loose a bit (2 stone since dec) when pred was reduced to 5mg/day and joining a slimming club but have a long way to go as still 7 stone over weight! :-(

your welcome Truly

I am still waiting to get on the scales, I just can not yet be brave enough to get on them. But I am at the hossi on Fri so that will be the day!

Good luck and keep us all posted.

Want to join but struggling so much on too much pred and munchies big time. Does cheating with frusemide count as have lost 10lbs in 4 days!

Den

you can only count it if you share it around so we all lose another 10lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI all,

I'm new to this site and asthma - diagnosed last month. Have now got over the shock and starting to think about how to improve my own condition.

I've always had a weight problem but used to manage to keep a yo yo system going, but since the birth ofmy som 8 years ago you stopped going up and down has only gone in one direction UP!

for me one of the best things I could do to help my self is loose those stones I drag around with me, so count me in.

I did start two weeks ago and so far have lost 3kg. I much more likely to stay on track if I have to report my progress regularly so count me in on this thread. Thankfully I'm not having to struggle with adverse effects of medication.

Well done everyone whose lost weight so far.

wanna loose wieght

well i would love to loose some weight - did loose 7lb in 3 days whilst in hospital but is returnin rapidly with the pred now well and truly kicked in. am gonna have to take myself in hand and try and avoid the chocolate and munchies me thinks.

have to see how it goes, hope everyone else is gettin on well with their wieght loss plans

WOW Bowmie well done.

After getting on the scales at the hossie last week i freaked and am desperately struggling on the ww points system it is working as i have lost 4lb in a week. I also cut out bread which seems to help and am certainly not as bloated as before so i might try going without wheat .

Finding the pred mucnhies hard tho and am fed up with veggies!

Good luck to all who are battling the bulge

i weigh myself tomorrow so will let you know how it goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOHOO - weighed myself today and have managed to keep wieghht stable!

Am beign as goood as i can wiht pred munchies etc. Haev started making a fruit sallad to work to nibble on durign day - am also allowign meyself a treat evrey week - soething that i fancy.

Am detremoined to get weight down - haev been yo yoing sinec my asthma started to get worse when i was in my late teens.

BOO HOOO - It's not fair

I'm not doing well. Have joined Den in the frusimide cheating (2kg in 24 hours!!), but have had a med change which is leaving me energy-less so am nibbling badly, although am trying to eat fruit as much as poss (although not too much as we all know what that can do!) Then to top it all, have had to put pred up today as asthma have a strop about the local tree blossom!

Feeling sorry for self - will try not to comfort eat

have lost wieght

well i jumped on the scales yesterday and didn't break them! i actually lost a coupla lb not sure how cos eating loads of rubbish and doin nothing...hope i don't go the same way as b4 xmas where i lost the first few weeks i was on pred and then piled it all on again and more whilst reducing...oh well just have to try and be real strict with myself and get back into healthy eating...carrots is the new chocolate..say it enough times and i might even confince myself!

i know healthy eatin is the main way for us all to loose weight but i was wonderin if we could come up with a list of ways in which peeps try to distract themselves from pred munchies etc for us all to try and find a way to beat it eg. do a task like washing up instead of heading for the choc drawer when munchies strike in other words distraction therapy!

anyhow enough yabbering from me

Need to join weight gain gang instead

Weighed self today and have put the miniscule 3lb i'd lost back on am back to 12st6. It's cos pred is up to 30mg and have major munchies and i know it's all my own fault for snacking but am really fed up.

hey guys,

I'm desperatly trying to lose some weight too and am finding it hard while being on a short course of pred after being in costa. It's so hard when I can't go to the gym but I have read that honey is meant to help lose weight. I've started to take honey in the morning and at night and am waiting to see if its helped... i will let you know!

Twistergirl x

hello everyone,

this is a topic close to my heart as I've been trying to lose weight for ages now so would love to join your gang! I find if I can't excercise then I can't lose weight, and 2 months of not being able to excercise has not helped my attempted weight loss! I'm going to aim for no comfort eating this week and hopefully will be able to start excercising again next week. By teh way - did the honey trick work???? Keep up the good work though guys

Weight loss gang

Hi Guys

I am new to this site and just browsing through and found this subject close to my heart.I am on 50mg of Pred a day and reducing very slowly, I have been told I am steroid dependant so very fed up about the weight gain. I have put on 5 stone in three years and I know it is mainly down to Preds. I joined a gym got a personal trainer and manged to lose 1/2 stone but had another attack preds go up and weight comes back. I try to eat healthly but some times I think what is the point. I need serious help the bigger I get the harder it is to breath and when I think I have cut out all the things I like I think stuff it just give in to the cravings.

Serious motivation help needed.

not lost but havent gained either!

bowmei thanks for suggestion only prob i have is grapes don't last long enough to reach the freezer!!!

welcome to all newbies joining the gang hopefully we'll all be able to motivate each other.

last nite finished of the last of the chocs i recieved whilst in costa with a little help from bf soo this week i'm gonna aim to cut out rest of rubbish food. am armed with some smoothie and fruit juice recipes to mix up just gotta buy those all healthy ingredients! hoping if can find some sweet tasting ones might help when get the cravings.

So here's to a week where hopefully *touches wood* i might loose a coupla pounds

Good luck all

im 13 and im not on pred (thank god!!) but im really overweight and its rtealy affecting my asthma

Do frozen grapes work? I'm going to have to try them as can't seem to resist the multitude of mini eggs that are in every shop! Anyone got any other ideas? I did start making my own smoothies, but it got to be a bit too much hassle, and they never taste as nice as the shop ones!

One excercise tip I have is to put small weights on your ankles when you go for a walk- before I had to stop excercising they were startign to tone up my legs and bum better than just walking alone.

Well, if you need a chocolate fix (like I'm going to with all this revision) ... snack size chocolate bars are good frozen, take longer to eat but taste just as yummy :-D

Weight Loss Gang

Hi I'm new to this site and really need help with my weight. I'm on so much medication that doesn't seem to be working and have been told that I've had all the best asthma meds about. Also, exercise starts my asthma off and the result is a hospital stay. Has anybody in the same position got any ideas as to what I can do.

Hi Hannabela,

Yes im in the exact same position as you!!!!!!!!

I was in hospital and npw cnt exersise without bringing on my asthma!!!

Add me as a buddy and we can chat more throught that!

Hope you feel better soon

I can finaly stand again so I weight myself today thinking that since I broke my leg I must have put loads of weight being in a wheelchair for most of the time. I have actualy lost 5kg! I guess pushing myself around was a good exercise altogether (my arms are now so toned it is amazing) and jumping around on one leg with the crutches was even better. Or maybe it was just the fact that getting to the kitchen was such a major hassle that all the snacking between the meals was just not worth the effort lol.

Weight by Pred

I have now spent a total of 2 months in hospital since January and have never been heavier!!!!!!!!!!

Its really embarressing especially as I'm in hospital so often-I know that all of the doctors and nurses have seen it all before but that dopesn't stop me feeling self concious about my size.

Weight loss gang

I'm new to this site but have struggled with exercise due to Asthma for years, (alwaya last at school sports day), having 3 kids didn't help my weight either. I'm 12 stone and size 14, I want to get back to 10 stone and a size 12. People have said that my extra weight is probably making my Asthma worse, any thoughts peeps ? Maz x

I think I need to drop from 13 stone to 10 and a half, maybe 11.

I was told dropping to 10 stone is dreaming cos of my bodybuilder frame LOL -

maybe I should've been a dude not a dudette!

My biggest food sin is PEPSI and COLA and DR PEPPER etc u get the picture!

Since I injured my knee - high impact exercise has been out of the question!

walking

Hi. I started walking a little bit each day and then started increasing when I could. Went from 15 mins a day to 2 hours a day whilst well and lost 7lbs in 3 months. Walking is cardio but low impact exercise. I was getting very down of putting on weight all the time ill and the doc just said the aim is to get fit and a friend who is personal trainer believes so strongly in walking. Even doing al ittle bit of walking helps the mind too.

I also can't go on tubes to work cause of the bad air, so get an overland train and then walk to work. Don't catch buses but walk instead. So am an advocate of walking - helps tone up the butt as well:-) All this is easier to do in summer though cause it ain't dark or chilly on a night. The cravings I find hard, but like below - so take flaxseed oil and fish oil (not liver oil) tablets, and found honey -replaced sugar with honey in my tea and coffee - it tastes lovely in herbal tea too. Also eat tonnes of fruit and drink tonnes of water - always in ma bag. Water helps fill the stomach.

Saying all this, I would loovveee soommmeee sttillttonnn cheese , or any cheese... I haven't eaten it for a couple of years as i can eat and eat and eat it:-) My craving for cheese is semi-satisfied by the M&S food porn ads:-)

Sorry I am going on and on.

i've managed 1 stone 10lbs this year. that's actually off. i'm back in a 16 now which is something. i still have some 1980's size 10 in my closet. i know i should bin them but i think i actually enjoy torturing myself. i've been swimming in the sea a few evenings a week which helps. especially as no chlorine to effect asthma and eczema. still too fond of chocolate though.

Hiya all!! so hard to loose weight with pred especially with munchies!! we all have good intentions!!

I have put 6 stone ish on in last 5 yrs and now due to severity of asthma exercise is immposssible although i do try walk when i can and fidget like mad which is supposed to burn off the calories!!

I have just started xenical or fat busters as i call them and in three weeks have lost 8lbs!! not good enough for me but doc mors than happy!! side effects too gross to discuss on here but puts u off greasy food as comes straight through!!!

Good luck to all and will keep you poosted on my loss!!

Help I'm on pred again. That means another few ponds going on. i know it doesn't need to but it still happens. 5 years ago I lost 2 stome in weight. Since my asthma went haywire this year a stone has gone back on. i keep losin 3 or 4 pounds but then it all goes back on and more. How do you all stick to your diets? I used to do weight watchers but can't afford to now.

ive been trying to loose weight for a couple of weeks now,ive cut down on what i eat and are having fruit as snacks,i do as much exercise as i can (depending on chest and weather) ,and ive put weight on,is it because of the prednisolone? or am i just not trying hard enough, need some advise on how else i could help myself to loose some weight because ive put on loads of weight since i took ill and its making me feel really low.

D58 dont get dishartened, thats how i was i didnt matter if i ate or not i still didnt loose any weight and if fact it crept on!! A doc once said to me if you are on long term pred and youo ate nothing and drank only water you still wouldnt loose an ounch!!!!! They only way im managing now is with xenical tablet a long with a healthy diet which i have to do as in diabetic on insilin, dont get me wrong i have my moments!!! fruit doesnt satisfy pred munchies in the nite like a bag of crisps of chocolate does!!

You really need to let your docs know how it is bothering you and get some help.

Angela the pred is a nasty thing for you weight!! even if you dont eat rubbish so dont worry, do you not still have the weight watchers diet book to stick to without paying for the meeeting and you can join me on here at our weekly weigh ins and disscussions?

Good luck to you all

just looked back to my post in march to see i was 12st 6. Got weighed at clinic this week and am 14st1. How did that happen.... well i know reallly no exercise major high pred and too much food am going to have to do something about this as my weight must be affecting lungs.

A fed up wheezy marmite

First things first dont worry it aint your fault marmite and your certainly not alone. You've crossed the first hurdel by admitting you want to do something about it, you need to seek help as i said before because with high dose pred and severe asthma that limits what you can do it will be a struggle. But look at me and you can see it can be done with help.

So chin up and good luck

you can join me on here for my weekly weigh ins, D day tom!!!

WEIGH DAY

Lost 5 lbs since 28th July. Now weighing in at 11st 2lb. Came off pred just over a week ago so I know that helps but I need to keep at it. Trouble is I get horrendous chocolate cravings.

Wasnt gonna post this week as quite down as havent lost an ounce this week, and havent been as naughty as other weeks!! fed up with it all at the mo!!! i know it does swing like this and as had my period which usually makes me put a couple pounds on!! but that doesnt help me feel disheartened.

Sorry

im starting my diet (again) today, ive only got 1 week left on pred (hopefully) so im feeling good and ready to loose lots of weight, the only problem is i banned scales, and put them in the bin (thats when i was being mardy) so i will have to buy some new ones (whales scales) only joking.so wish me luck and hope the feelings last?

hope the diet goes well and you stick to it better than i do. don't weigh too often as you can see from others it doesn't help.

I recently shocked my asthma nurse as I weighed in a stone heavier than at last year's review (second year running). Having had only one short course of pred in the last year I cannot really blame that either.

Research into food allergies / intolerances suggests that if you avoid the foods you are intolerant to you should lose weight - even to the extent of asking you to weigh in daily. I got the results of my food test a month ago, have been on holiday for two weeks and have lost 3lbs so I supose that is a start.

Now I am going to look at the rest of my diet. My first are to try to relace chips with boiled / jacket potatoes (yuk but I do think that is probably my worst offender) and change from cornflakes to porridge and see what impact that has.

Anyone suggest any simple replacements that may help

Well it may be two days past my weigh day but have finally lost a bit more!! yeah better mood now!! must have been my period stopping me loosing, another 1lb gone, 11lbs in all, that first stone is well within my grasp now.

Good luck to all

Andrea xxxx

Hey, well done Andrea! That is fantastic!

Do know what you mean about weight varying during the month - mine varies all over the place. and even depending on time of day sometimes! But your definitely heading in the right direction!

Weight loss

I lost half a stone while I was in hospital with pneumonia but that doesn't really count does it?

However, have been out for 2 1/2 weeks and haven't put it back on again yet, despite being on stupid amounts of steroids, so hopefully it's gone for good...

Still have quite a way to go though... need to lose at least another 4 stone to be within the recommended weight for my height :-(

Any tips?

well done Andrea. can't use the excuse of periods for not losing weight personally. that excuse went out the window 4 years ago but that was also when the weight started to pile on.

Ange xxx

I need to join the Weight Loss Gang. I had lost almost 4 stone but with the pred being so high all year I've put 2 stone back on again :o( It's making me miserable and more self-conscious again and I'm sure it doesn't help the breathing either.

Becky

Well done to all those who are managing to lose weight. have to admit i have put dieting on hold at the mo, im intending to really knuckle down after our hols once the kids are back at school , i hopefully may be able to reduce my pred by then as well. I spoke to GP about Xenical again hes still reluctant but we are going to discuss it more at my nxt appt after the hols, saw dietician but didnt lose anything with her!!

I really will need to but some new clothes for this autumn but i refuse point blank to buy anything over a size 20!!

hopalongkp dont worry about sizes, it used to get me down but as long as the clothes fit and look ok then thats all that matters. Why wont your gp give you xenical thats what i take and if your on pred its the only way you will loose anything.

PS off for a bacon buttie for me treat!!

I'm going to join the weight loss gang. I decided to join weight watchers after the hospital told me I needed to loose weight to help my asthma. I lost 4 and a half pound in the first week. its hard going but I'm going for small goals at a time. Firstly I want to go down a size to buy a nice dress for a wedding I'm going to in September.

Beth

AAGH!!!

I just can't seem to lose weight! I normally lose weight by diet and exercise combined but all eyar not been able toe xcercise as not controlled enough and the weight has just piled on, don't think repeat pred and increased seretide every few months has helped matters much either. I still can't excercise and I'm getting sick of dieting and losing 1lb only for 2lbs to go on the next week and then staying the same for weeks on end heavier than I was before!

Right, rant over, at least the less hot and humid weather of July has made my breathing easier, so I may yet be able to excercise before the end of the year!!!!

Finally realised am doing something right when ventured to asda with mum 2nite and got a new pair of jeans a size smaller!!

YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

just hope it continues!!

Love Andrea xxxxx

Ps HAve decided a deserve more treats so insted of a treat per stone im doing it every 1/2 stone!!!! more treats and more achievable goals!!!

Planning what to have for me next treat? thing might be a trip to the hairdressers after me disasterous colours!!!lol

Beth

How feb Beth, if your like might the amount doesnt mean as much as when you can physically see it when having to get smaller clothes.

Well done

Congratulations Beth I'm envious. What are you doing to lose so quickly. I have only managed to lose 4lbs in a month

Stayed the same this week and a bit fed up about it. Havinga couple of weeks hols from work and the temptation to pick is to great. i suppose I should be glad I didn't put any on. Well done for those who have lost.

Cathy and Angela dont get disheartened, like you said Angela at least you havent gained anything and Cathy thats 1lb a week which over a year is 52lbs!!!! which is 3st 7lbs!! sounds better when you look at it like that doesnt it.

Well done all

Love Andrea xxxxxxxxx

Andrea you are totally right, even loosing a pound a week is a good thing. However small the loss is it should definately be celebrated. Well done and keep up the good work guys!

I've had a massive change in my diet, I was eating lots of unhealthy stuff including starbucks lattes and pain au chocolate as a second breakfast, ready meals amongst other things. Looking at the points in the book its quite scary that I was eating one weeks worth in one meal.

A few things I've found out are not to eat too many bananas I was eating loads but actually it goes straight to fat as it is so high in natural sugar. I also though that smoothies were good but again your body has nothing to break down. Melon and berries and really good to eat if you are loosing weight.

They've also mentioned at meetings that swapping a few meals around and trying new meals can really help as you come to a point where your body gets as much nutrients as it needs by the amount you are putting in so even a small change in diet can boost weight loss.

At the moment I'm loving skinny cow ice lollies, you get quite a lot of ice cream and its not that unhealthy!

Beth

Beth you found me secret i cant get enough of skinny cow ice creams, the mint choc chip and the strawberry lollies and the mint n choc tubs!!!!!!!!!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

cant you start a weight gain gang!!!!!!

its alot more easy to put it on :-)

Wasnt going to post this week as really down as for the first time in 8 weeks haveput on and cant handle it! but seems like im not alone!! i know its because am on hossie scales, period due, not mobilising and pred up from 27.5 to 40mgs!! you know the reasons but cant help feeling deflated. especially me i cant handle failure! and bridesmad in 7 weeks!! lungs permitting.

Well chins up all

Nexts weeks neally here!

Love Andrea xxxx

just want to say keep it up guys - there's always good weeks and bad weeks. I also haven't lot any weight, but then haven't gained any either, which I guess is one positive. However I've never ever been this fat and am having to buy bigger clothes - not too many as I'm determined to lose the weight, but it can get you down! However there's a programme on sky now about a 34 stone teenager - kind of puts it into perspective!

Right guys - it's a new week - good luck!!

Wish I could have the same excuse as Wheezyab. That one went out the window a few years ago. I am just bone lazy and enjoy too much chocolate. I am much more disciplined when I am working.

MMMMMM-Skinny cow lollies i love the choc chip ones .

I have decided that at my GP appt on friday am going to beg for some help and will not be fobbed off with seeing the dietician- i know what im supposed to do!

I havent weighed myself in 2 months but am going to get onscales fri day morn b4 appt (aaaggghhh) i know i have gained as am still on 40mg pred plus i always do over school hols as i eat out of boredom and pick too much !

Well done to anyone who is having sucess(more tips please!!) and good luck to those who arent at the mo.

Yaaaaaaaay! Lost 3lbs this week.

well done Andrea!

I put on 2lbs this week, but then I did have a pizza and a chinese to cheer myself up over weekend so not v surprised! Trying special k diet now!

i beat you cal,i put on 3lbs this week :-(

hey guys. i just thought id start messaging here cos im intending to slim down and eat healthier. its v. difficult when michaels in costa though, they dont sell healthy foods in the shops, its all mayo and crisps etc...thats when i gain the weight, when hes in or just got out etc, its hard to get a routine going so any support would be fab!!!

AAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!

Igot on the scales for the first time since May and have put on a stone, i was planning on being more careful now the kids are back at school but i have decided that drastic action is needed so have started back doing the WW points (cant afford classes tho)

When i saw GP last week he actually told me that i needed to concentrate on getting my health more stable and that my weight was not a priority!! Sorry i cant take thati hate the way i look i just feel like a total beached whale hence the decision to do my own thing.

Good luck to everyone else and if u have gained i hope things go the right way when i next weigh in.

Kate

Realised this morning that I'd put on 1/2 stone since last cons appt 2 months ago - have started weight watchers tonight!!!!!

This weight and not fitting into my clothes milarkey is really getting me down, espeically as got yet another course of pred as winter cold / chest infection fun has just started, and I STILL can't excercise - until last Sept I used to be such an excercise freak too!

Oh well, think positive - off to plan my meals for the next week to keep within my points total!!

hi all thought I'd jion you

Hi all

rejioned my weight watchers last night to reloose the weight the dreaded steriods have put on about half a stone so next week my aim is to loose 1 1/2 lb so hear goes then ill be back to my gold so wont have to pay

take care and happy loosing

ive put on another 3lbs in ten days,

at this rate im going to be needing a crane to carry me up and down stairs,

ok that was a slightly o.t.t.

i dont think im over eating and im try to keep control of pred munchies by eating fruit.

me very sad :-(

YIPEEEEEEEE!!

Sorry to brag but am a happy bunny!

Despite being on 40mg pred i managed to lose 5lb in my first week back counting points(dreaded weightwatchers!!) Im really quite chuffed.

The thing i find hardest is that im actually eating alot more now im dieting than i was before yet im losing without being able to exercise.

So its 5lb off only another4 stone minimum to go((AAAGGGHHH!!)

Well done to those who also have lost and keep fighting to all who are trying to battle the bulge.

hopalong,

Congratulations! You sound very pleased with yourself (and so you should be).

I couldn't go and get weighed this week as I was working late so it will be interesting to see how much I've lost on Monday. We went to a wedding last Friday and the chocolate fountain and chocolate wedding cake was just too much temptation. I could have done worse but I could have done better.

Beth

congratulations to all those who have lost weight - but did you have to send it my way. have managed to put on about a stone in last 5 weeks since being off work. now need to lose it again.

Ive given up too, i mean how am i supposed to loose anything when they forcing 3 x da forijuice down me!! 300 cals in one!!! Had some skinny cow lastnite off me mum!!

Angela- just llok as the cake season as a a little blip i have it coming up next month so will be moaning like u then so kick me up the b*m!!

I have managed to lose another 2lb so thats half a stone in a fortnight but i know its not going to be this good esp as im due on and that sends the scales skywards!

Has anyone any tips for getting thropugh the major carb cravings i get with PMS?

Hope others have had some luck this week.

Hopalongkp - I find bananas good for PMS cravings, especially with custard (low fat of course!).

I am happy for once!! 1st week at weight watchers and lost weight for 1st time in ages! My scales said 4lbs and they said 5.5lbs whcih is strange as they both were the same last week! Either way I'm really pleased!

Was studying my new weight watchers book abotu comfort eating - which I do a lot (comfort / bored / in teh house so will eat you name it) and it said if you do eat somthing bad - enjoy it and move on - so dno't worry about teh cakes, just try to enjoy them but only eat 1/2 slice - at least you are damage limitating that way!

Good luck all this week.

well done cal.

4 and a half pounds loss this week when I got weighed at Weight Watchers (I didn't go last week so really thats a two pound loss each week).

I'm really happy about it. Its definately making a difference and I had loads of compliments at work last week as people are starting to notice. I'm at that stage of being in between sizes though so my six 18s are falling down and on the last belt loop but my size 16s won't do up or are too tight just yet.

Last night our leader told us how many points marks and spencers melt in the middle chocolate puddings were. I was going to save some of my points but I don't think I'll bother now I know they're 16 1/2!!!!!

Better get dressed and get to work now!

Hi All

Not happy this week put a 1llb on this week so got to work harder at not eating so much because im unable to exercise but on the slow decline of pred so hopefully that will help

Dont worry tas if you look back were all having bad weeks, it comes with the pred teritory.

Keep chin up tommorrows another day

just got back from weigh-in - maintined this week and ahve been v good so not happy! Add to that just started long term pred dose - really not happy! Oh well, this is a new week and will focus again! HAve big weekend with meal on Friday and sisters birthday (which means my mum will make cake) on Saturday so ahve to be extra good in the week!

Only lost 1lb this week, think its because I have PMS but its still disappointing. I don't understand it I managed to buy some size 16 jeans at the weekend that I wouldn't have fitted into the week before.

I've lost the 3lbs that I put on but don't think I will jump for joy yet. I'll wait until I've lost some more and drop below that 11st mark. Let's hope it doesn't go straight back on again like last week.

well done angela :-)

i have lost nothing again!!

better luck next week.

I haven't dared weigh myself this week. Maybe i will tomorrow morning.

I'm hoping my referral to the weight management clinic comes through quickly because then I'll probably be able to start on the Xenical. I know it's not a magic pill but anything that helps to shift some of the extra pounds (and more) is very welcome.

Good luck everyone for this week - it's a new week so forget about last week!

Beth - 1lbs is still 1lbs - well done! I go by clothes more anyway as that's what people notice rather than your weight, so if you feel good in them thats the main thing.

Haven't weighed in since the 6th because of the gain but took the plunge today and not only lost the weight gained but additional pounds too. Now lost 10 lbs since I started and am back to averaging 1lb a week so am well pleased. Only another 3 stone 6 lbs to go to my eventual target of 10 stone

Congratulations to all who have lost some and for those that haven't - keep your chin up it will come off eventually.

Well braved my own scales today bearing in mind have been on jospital junk for 7 weeks, fortijuice suppliments, tons of pred and not much movement aswell as being due on tom and weighing myself late pm still somehow managed to be 4lbs lighter than when went in!!

I've maintained this week but know i haven't been very good.

2lb loss last night, worked out I have 4lb to go before I've lost 2 stone. That's given me back some of the motivation I lost last week. I'm going to aim to loose it in 2 weeks.

Just bought some new tops today which was nice to buy a size lower.

Beth

4lb loss in the week since can out of costa!! finall bridesmaid dress fitting on sat so may have to have it took in a bit more!!! Must be all the running around and shopping been doing while mum off, coz the diets gone out the window!! when in costa wasnt eating and bloods so low dietician said eat wot want so have and still loosing!! hope it lasts!!

Well done Andrea, I hope the dress fitting goes well. You will be really pleased if they get to take it in a bit more for you!

I had a naughty morning ate too many bite sized flap jacks and chocolate crispie bits. I'm not pointing it just going to write it off as a bad day.

Beth

Andrea - well don and enjoy final dress fitting!

beth - I've managed to eat 1.5 tub of those mint choc crisp things this week - I blame it on increased pred and PMT!! Not had any alcohol so hoping it will even out by Monday and weigh day!

Cal,

Those mint choc bite things are lovely aren't they?! I've had them once but they don't seem to have them at my meeting at the moment. :-(

I've done better this weekend especially since my boyfriend kindly confiscated the chocolate bar I got free with my magazine! He did give me one peice though. I also had weight watchers mini rolls instead of my nephews birthday cake. i didn't feel too deprived though as they are still nice. So nice we ate them in less than 24 hours!

After months of saying i must get back on a healthy eating kick i got on scales today and found I am the biggest ive ever been in my whole life :-(

Over the years I have tried every diet club going but unfortunatly they all work short term and then i start stuffing face again!

I lost 5 stone 18 mths ago but cos I had 4 stone still to lose I gave up and now i cant beleive I was so stupid. I've been acting like idiot and not remembering half my meds for diabetes and its about time i started taking it all a bit more serious.

Anyway Ive found a packet of reductil in cupboard so I'm going to get going tommrow and try to get myself a bit healthier. I get so angry with myself cos I hate being this huge, hate not being able to wear the clothes i want, hate being so self consious and yet the need to eat rubbish seems to win everytime :(

Hope its ok to join you guys , really cant face another diet club and so expensive so I thought if i regularally post here it may keep me on striaght and narrow!

Julie x

Hiya Julie and welcome, i know exactly how you feel and so will many others so dont feel down and guilty as your not alone!! Its harder for us than for others.

Im on xenical but feel like they aint working and was looking up reductil lastnite are they any good? will have to ask cons next week at appt!! Ive managed to loose a stone with xenical but ghas stopped last 2 mths while in hasp dont know if its because i had a brak and didnt take them for a or 3 weeks or if they weight loss i origionally had was actually down to slight pred reduction and a coinsidence that was at same time i started xenical? either way not happy as put on 3lbs this week:( but bridesmaid dress and clothes looser? whats that about? but do have my period so hopefully its water?

Anyway off now hiope all doing better than me!!

Love Andrea xxx

Julie - Welcome to the weight loss gang, we all know how it feels. Its not easy loosing weight or keeping it off as you have to change habbits which is really difficult. I am still finding it difficult even though I have been loosing but coming on here helps.

Andrea - Try not to worry about the scales (I should take my own advice sometimes! lol!) its inches and how your clothes feel that matter. For some reason sometimes we loose inches and not pounds. Its very odd.

just a quick note so people dont think im a fraud lol.. I dont have the same pred weight struggles as you all as im not on pred but spending days/weeks on end with Sean (my son) in hospital certainly is a factor. There never seems a healthy option when pacing hospital wards in middle of night.

Oh well so far so good today, hope u all having good week

julie x

Boo hiss - put on 1.5 lbs this week even though ahve been v good and kept wihtin my points allowance - NOT HAPPY!!!! ANyway, I've had my cry and sulk and now am oging to pick myself up and plan a week of extra healthy eating and also will try swimming even tohguh I ahte it with a passion!

Julie - pred or no pred you are more than welcome to lose weight with us! Have to say it was only the thoguht of knowing I could moan here that stopped me stopping at teh shops for chocolate on my way home!

Andrea, hope you had a fab wedding hon

Cal x

I got my letter from the 'Specialist Weight Management Service', who call themselves SWiMS but I don't know where they get that middle i from. Anyway, I got my letter of acknowledgement of referral today and request to call to make appointment. The first one i could get was for November 25th! Still, it's a date :o) Looking forward to it with trepidation.

Is this an offer to help with weight loss because since I was told I have asthma, in May this year I have gained 2 stone. I don't even think my eating habits have changed, yes I do still eat chocolate.

Any suggestions?

js

I lost 3lb this week, it must have been the nasty pmt last week! I was very impressed.

I had to wait ages in the hospital pharmacy today to get my prescription so we went and had a pub lunch so I feel a bit guilty about having bread and chips. Its the second time I've been really naughty in a week. At least I have till next monday to make up for it.

Morning all, very pleased this morning as ive lost 7 pounds in the first week!

I know to some it may seem alot in 1 week but i have loads to lose so sometimes I can lose larger amounts in the first couple weeks :-)

Hope u all having a good week

Julie x

Julie - well done that's fab!!

I lost 4lbs this week - as with Beth, think my 1.5 lbs gain was due to PMT bloating, thoguh that means I haven't lost much - and have been so good this week - minimum amt points and no alcohol! Still - it worked!

Good luck for this week guys - keep up the good work!!

Cal x

Well done Cal and Julie that's fantastic. Eight sausages is about a pound so imagine how many packs of sausages you have lost! Good luck for next week and keep up the good work.

I lost 1 1/2 lb this week. I got another silver seven and I got my 10% key ring for loosing ten percent of my body weight. I'm really pleased with myself and I've been walking round showing everyone my keyring! Its very rare for me to feel this confident and please with myself it feels strange.

My planning has definately been working when we have time at the weekend me and my boyfriend make up meals that are no points (I'm doing no count) and stick them in plastic tubs in the freezer to eat in the week when I just need to microwave stuff. I'm not very confident at cooking alone since I set fire to a frying pan a few years ago!

Well done Cal, Julie and Beth. I stayed the same this week but at least I didn't gain despite all the birthday cake and chocolates. birthday season over at last so hopefully will start to lose again now.

I GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am stuckk in a rutt and stabilised and not appy, personally dont think xenical worked think was a coincidence at same time as pred reduced from 40mgs to 30 so now been back on 40 for 4mths newt more going on! only natural swings with PMT that i mistook for loses and gains. ave email cons at lung centre while in local as to see if reductil will work any better as am deaparete now!!

Congrats to all dong better than me?

Love Andrea xxx

Andrea, I was on reductil for 4 months last year and lost 3 stone but then Sean was in hospital for ages and diet went out window. Reductil def works for me in the fact I dont get hungry and have trouble finshing dinners. I had about 3 wks worth left so ive started taking them again and will need to see doc for new script next week, only prob is my bp is a bit high at mo so doc may need convincing. It's worth asking your doc if reductil is suitable for you, let us know how u get on.

Julie x

Another four pound loss this week :-)

Managed to wear a pair of jeans yesterday that ive not worn since end of may so im very happy!

Hope u are all having a good week

julie x

well done Julie - that's 11lbs in about 2 weeks I make it - that's fab!!! Not sure how but managed to lose 2lbs this week so I was pleased I dragged myself there for teh weekly torture after moping in bed all day as feel so rough! Good luck all - it's a new week!

just been docs for reductil script and she refused to give it as blood pressure is very high, tried arguing that if i lose more weight the bp should come down but i got a lecture about bp that high and fact im diabetic will cause heart damage.

She offered me xenical which i'll try for couple weeks but not holding much faith in that as ive not read anything positive about it on forums.

So all in all im a bit fed up and very tempted to buy reductil myself online but i know in reality i cant take the risk cos my kids need me.

thanks julie, i have to wait to ge out of my local and to my specialist at the lung centre to try for reductil, but have emailed him telling him dont think xenical working!!! am sure have put weight on in here no wonder with pred at 60mgs and them shoving fortijuices down me!!! but too scared to get on the scales coz if i have it will send me on a downhill spiral of depression again and into doing silly things like not eating which isnt hood with diabetes!!

finally braved the scales and thought I had put on 1lb but in fact checking again I have maintained. It has to start coming off again soon otherwise Christmas will be here and that is definitely bad news for my weight.

Only lost a pound last month so not too pleased. Went to a weeding last weekend so that probably hasnt helped plus with the shorter days there is little motivation to get out and walk . I supose i should be happy I havent put weight on. Also I have just been diagnosed as prediabetic and have started being treated for high blood pressure too so a little bit down.

Julie well done with youe loss keep going you are doing really well without drugs. I know its tough i have so much to lose and its never ending but you can do it.

I havent lost over the last few weeks but managd to maintain somehow but am finding dieting is just causing even more probs so am trying not to think about it- suppose im burying my head in the sand but it will have to do for now!

Good luck and keep going to all those scale hioppers!

excuse the excitment but the nurse was amazed and so am i,ive lost 7kg in 2 weeks, thats a whole stone :-0 :-) yipee,

i would jump for joy but lungs being grumpy,

congratulations and celebrations...............................you have lost a stone today. or are thiose the wrong words. keep it up mel

How fab Mel CONGRATULATIONS and WELL DONE xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

You will have to settle for virtual jumping and celebrating xxxxx

Mel thats fantastic , well done! :-)

Cathy, try not to get too down, any loss is better than a gain. I'm also diabetic being treated for high blood pressure hence this latest diet lol.

Ange, is always a releif to maintain when u expecting a gain isnt it

Well i got on scales today and another 3 pounds off so thats 15 pounds in 3 weeks :-) I bought some jeans weeks ago, got home and tried on and they were soooo tight, looked awful so i put them back in bag and shoved in cupboard. On saturday i thought i would give them a try and see if any looser and was amazed cos they went on easily with room to spare! :-)

Hope u all have good week

julie x

Julie 15lbs in 3 weeks and jeans not tight if fab! Well done!

Mel - well done hon! Keep up the good work!

Well I put on 0.5lbs this week, so not happy, mind you still recovering from splat last weekend and increased pred again has given me munchies from hell! Keeping at it though, gonna switch my plan at weoght watchers to the no count for a week to see how that goes for some variety - you can only snack on weight watchers sweets (which make you feel sick after a few!) or fruit - not sure how the munchies will go!!

Good luck everyonwe - it's a new week!

Cal xx

thank you all for your congratulations,

it means alot :-)

well done Mel - how did you do it? Any tips? I've got my fitness assessment this arvo for the 10 week fitness course at the local gym that my GP sent me on. Had to wait until my lungs settled a bit before I could book it though. As i was so good last week booked it up and now lungs are playing up again. I am still going anyway and see what the trainer has to say. Hopefully the weight will then start to shift again.

Lost a pound this week. Shifting the right direction again at last. Hope it carries on this week but doubt it as on short course of pred. Am still determined to go to fitness course tomorrow arvo to keep it up even though Saturday was hard work. How is everyone else doing?

Well done ange :-) Not so good here this week as i've stayed the same. Keep having days where im really good all day and then pig out at night :-(

Have been good all day and im now going bed before i start eating lol

Hope everyone else having good week

Julie x

A big well done to all those managing to lose weight and well done to those still trying.

As for me I seem to have hit a plateu at 13 5. I've not lost anything since mid October but am thankful that I haven't put any back on. I blame it on the weather and dark nights. I will have to try to up the exercise indoors; I don't find that very easy to do because unfortunately I find the seat in front of the tele is too big a draw

gaining not losing

I can't stop gaining weight!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its really getting me down coz my mates are all skinny-i know that the amount of steroids and stuff i'm on doesn't do much to help the situation but everytime i actually manage to lose weight i have another attack and the pred goes up

How's everyone doing in the weight loss gang. Mine isn't good news at all.

ange xx

OK, the diet starts today! After getting on the scales at the OP clinic yesterday I have it confirmed that I have been gaining weight, and at a scary rate, so I HAVE to do something about it – at least stopping putting on weight, that would be a start!. Also only have one pair of trousers left that I can fit into, and they are remnants from a fat period twenty years ago, so not exactly the height of fashion.

Anyway, one of my big weaknesses is snacking, so from now on it is proper meals and no eating in between. Gulp, that is going to test my culinary skills. I’ve also been meaning to try excluding dairy, and think now is the time, as cheese is a big weakness. The last piece of cheese in my fridge has just been ceremoniously eaten. Am also going to try and find some gentle exercise.

….. at least those are my good intentions for today!

im not happy this fortnight as i have only lost 3lb :-(

i put it down to the fact of not being able to do much over the past week and pred munchies.(no excuse)

but will do better next time,i hope :-(

good luck with the weight loss ali

luv

mel xxxxx

mel- 3lb in a fortnight is exactly what you should be losing so be pleased(i know easier said then done when you just want it gone!!)

I got on scales and have put on 4lb in last 3 weeks so am definately not happy, having to up pred cetainly hasnt helped but i also havent been making a concerted effort to diet either so cant blame pred totally.

So its back to counting points again and hoping pred wont get in way too much.

Good luck to all and i hope scales are pointing in right direction for you .

managed to lose 3lbs in 2 weeks, am happy. Good luck all. Mel - you doing well, keep it up, 3lbs more realistic loss you can keep up son dont' worry hon, just keep going as you are

Good luck the rest!

BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have put 4lb on in my 6weeks in costa!! thought would be alot more really! not happy am now only 1/2stone lighter than when started xenical, so think onna stop, but have had a few weeks off or taking willy nilly with not eating? need to see cons to see what thinks?

Have been on 60mgs pred for 4 weeks? ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well done everyone. Stop making excuses for losing weight Cathy - it's a start in the right direction.

I'm up to 42lb weight loss. I need to come and confess though. I've had a sneaky chocolate brownie and a couple of two bar milky ways this week. I feel very guilty and I'm trying not to buy into the whole binge eating and not telling anyone thing I did a few years ago! So I thought I'd come here and confess to you lot who won't shout at me. lol!

Beth

It's official - I'm joining in the Weight Loss Gang. My GP has put me on Xenical :o) I'm soooooo pleased, but as I'm going to a friend's for dinner tonight I think I'll wait until tomorrow morning to take the first dose. I don't want my insides 'doing the dirty on me' (for want of a better phrase) while I'm out. I'll give myself the weekend at least to work out exactly how it's going to effect me, then maybe risk taking it while I'm out with/at friends.

Becky.

hope everyone is doing ok,

ive lost 8lb ths time ,im very pleased :-)

the reductil the nurse has put me on is doing a fab job,

good luck to all

Good luck BeckyG!

I give up! I lose 2 or 3 lbs, put on a couple, lose them again and put them back on. doesn't seem to matter what I eat or do. My clothes feel bigger, my face and arms are definitely thinner, but basically my weight seems to stay more or less the same. The gym has helped to improve my lung function though and I am actually quite enjoying going. The one draw back - what started as a fairly light 1 hour fitness programme has now been upped by my trainer to a very strenuous 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours long and I am exhausted by the end.

managed to loose 4lbs put on since being home on monday but still not enough!!

Anyone dared to try out the scales yet?

No way! I see my mum's sitting there on the floor of the shower-room, get that odd feeling of temptation and then get too scared. Think I'll wait until I get home on Friday ... and probably then leave it til Saturday as I only tend to weigh myself in the mornings.

Good luck all with the effects of christmas.

Becky better to weigh first thing in the morning and on same scales if poss so ignore your mums!!! cons said to me today i looked like id lost weight told him id just bought bigger clothes!!!

on the help side he told me that reductil no good for pred induced weight so stick with xenical!! even though not took for 2mths!! better dig it out! happy toilet dashing for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think i will have to join you all got weighed in clinic today told you put 2 stones on since sept i know it down to the pred but it got me down hope that the asthma umnit st leoicester will reduce it down soon then it will go back to norm i hope

well i lost weight over xmas :-) only 2lb

but at least i didnt put any on,

so im happy as i haved piged out and been to a few party's

Well done Mel. Glad someone has been brave enough to weigh and have good news too.

Huge congratulations mel!!

I dared to stand on my mum's scales this morning but have to say that I think they're wrong, because according to them I've lost half a stone! There is no way on this earth (or any other planet) that I've lost half a stone. I will wait until Saturday morning when I'll weigh myself on my own scales at home, before believing any weight loss/increase.

Becky.

Its all gone quiet on here!! he he

well ive got the charming xenical side effects already!! not good rushing the loo when lungs as fragile as mine at mo!! but no weight loss yet but has only been 2 days!!

andrea xxx

Well dnoe Mel how did you do it?????

BeckyG -H ope your mums scales are right, never mind if not.

Andrea - Hope xenicalo side effects ease soon as you learn what you can /cant have.

I dared the scales and wished i hadnt , the weight i lost late last year has returned as well as a few extra lbs so its back to counting points.

Hubby said why i dont i wait until pred is less (40mg again at mo) but whats the point if i think like that i will nevr lose.

Has anyone tried the weightwatchers on line before as cant get to any meetings near me?

Good luck to all those who are also embarking or returning to the dreaded dieting.

haven't dared go near scales yet but need to concentrate and try. have tried not to be too much of pig over christmas but ? Hopalong is weightwatchers one with points? if so i just use all info but without going to meetings as they would say am not overweight but want to get back to 8st then will, be happy as put stone on since summer. Blaming all time had off sick this year.

Good luck with weight loss in 2007 all.

I finally took the plunge and weighed in. I'm over the moon because having had a pre Xmas increase of 3 lbs I now weigh the same as I did at the beginning of December.

Whether you have lost or gained do not give up the fight - just remember that it is all worth it in the end.

Good Luck and keep happy

Well done cathy you kept the side going!! good luck

Kirsten i struggle at 40mgs too, but cons said to keep on xenical as it was helping in that wasnt putting any weight on!! pre menstral now though so double munchies!!!

Self limiting side effects of preds :)

Have you ever thought some of the side effects help limit weight gain.

First the cramps make it hard to get to the fridge to raid it.

Then if you manage to get the food the shakes help stop you getting it into your mouth.

The restlessness helps burn of the extra calories - and the sleeplessness gives you time to think up silly things like this!

happy dieting

Strange really, I seem to have put on over half a stone at least recenly but my clothes still fit! (And NO, I am not wearing lycra leggins! Jeans actually) Mind you some trousers are the hipsters so I think it squidges out above the waist line!

Yeeeuuuk!

I Must really try to loose some weight and do some propper regular exersise!

Swimming anyone??? (though the pool is sooo chilly sometimes I need the extra layer of fat / blubber to keep warm! LOL )

Kate

Kate would love to come swimming but the chlorine sets me off and people will mistake me for the whale that got beached in london!!! :(

Bloody weight getting me down now!! restarted xenical 2 weeks ago, have been good with diet reduced pred slightly and still put on weight!! be it only 2lbs its 2lbs more than could do with!! blooming hormones!! got alot to answer for!!!

Oh well tommorrows another week

Andrea xxx

well i lost weight a whole 1lb,wow!!!!

so in the last 4 weeks ive only lost 3lb in total :-(

nurse has put me on a higher dose of reductil so fingers crossed it works, she was nice tho and still said well done!!!!

if it dont i may be taken off it :-(

how is everyone else doing

mel xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Mel - 1lb is better than nothing so try not to feel down, I try and look at it by holding a 1lb bag of sugar then thinking at least im not carrying that around now.

Well after struggling through my first week on wws and despite having pred increased i still managed to lose 4lbs which im really chuffed with.

Hope others are having some luck 2.

My scales have broke - well they vary in weight - up & down! LOL!

I am really trying to make an effort but I have inherited a 6 pack of mince pies!

Eeeeeek - plus there are also a sheep biscuit barrel full of Geo bars, a bread bin full of chocolate bars........ temptation to gobble toooo much.

I am being very good and having huge bowls of porrige for breakie which gets me through to 1pm.

I seem to pick & crave in the evenings - X-stich does help but then I get diverted when I go to get a cup of tea!

Kate

i have no clue if i've lost or gained any weight whilst lying here in costa but i have this evening had my first xenical disaster :oO I've had xenical incidences before, but not reaching the scale of disaster. this is really not what i need today. not while i'm in costa. not on top of a miserable day. not when i'm low on clean pjs coz my dad didn't come to visit tonight so didnt bring my clean washing back. horridness of horridnesses.

Kate when in the days of me going to weight watchers we were told to spend the first few days scoffing everything in sight that isn't any good for our weight then once that has all gone just restock with healthy food items. Maybe that is what you should do. My weight is going nowhere at the moment - not that I have been on the scales for ages, I just feel like a fat slob.

KateMoss profile image
KateMoss

Hi Angela,

thanks for the tip .... now off to scoff 6 mince pies, 2 bars of chocolate and anything else not good for ones waist line LOL!

Becky - oooops! how embarasing! Hope clean PJs arive for you sooon!

Kate

PS gone off scoffing pies tonight!

Kirsten, thats fantastic loss, well done!!!! :-)

Now can you send some weight loss motivation here pls cos im getting so fat its ridiculous! I keep thinking one last binge and ill start, so i have the pig out and then dont start and do same again the next day ...

Julie x

Becky G - sorry to hear about xenical disaster that the one thing that puts me off trying it ,hope you got fresh pjs now?

Julie - you have enough on your plate worrying about Sean to think about dieting plus hossie food and shops dont tend to be weight friendly!

Kate- have you finished those mince pies yet? I made the kids eat all their swwets by the 2nd Jan(didnt have too many luckily) so the tempation wasnt there!!

Mel hows it going?

Im on cloud nine as despite having pred increased i managed to lose another 2lb but its been really tough trying to deal with pred munchies healthily thank goodness for snack a jack salted popcorn, only another 4 1/2 stone to go!!

KateMoss profile image
KateMoss

Yes, all mince pies have been eaten over the w/e!

Really trying not to nibble - am fine at work ( apart from a tin of Quality street which made the rounds - only had 2!)

Hops - well done on shifting the 2lb - my scales are sort of wobbly so I only take note of big changes! LOL!

Kate

Well have started paul mckennas i can make you thin today!!

just reading the book it all makes sense, no diet you eat what you want when you want, just make sure its freal hunger and not emotional!! makes sense when you read it honest!! only started today but havent snacked or binged all day!! just hope it continues, not allowed to weigh for first 2 weeks so will have to let you all know after that, the cds so relaxing though!! and its says if cravings arent filled by food its because its emotional which makes sense as pred messes with your emotions? got a section on how to desensitise yourself to something you dont want to eat anymore using pressure points but not tried as need someone read out to me as do as cant hold book read and pressure point all at once!!!

Off to intalin tom for birthday dinner!! he he

good luck all

am still taking xenical just incase!!

love andrea xxx

Paul McKennas advice for eating is on GMTV each day this week and apparently is also on their web site for those that may have missed it. All sounds too sensible and too easy - I will have to give it a tryl sometime soon.

Braved the scales at last and lost 1lb since New Year. Won't put the flag out yet. Last year's total with all the ups and downs ended up as 6lb for the year. At that rate I might just be slim in about 3 years time.

Dont get too disheartened Angela any loss is great. Mines the same for the year and i was down till cons said before last year put on average 1 stone a year so not only have not put on have lost!! makes sense really.

heres to more sucess with paul!! off to listeb to cd now and get motivated!!

andrea xxx

I've lost 54 and a half lb all together now. I've still got 46 left to go!

Its so nice being able to go anywhere for tops now, still having difficulty as I can't do up the skinny jeans in a 14! lol!

Beth

WOW!! That's amazing!!! Well done beth!!!!! (I'm presuming sadie hasn't lost any weight on your behalf)

I weighed myself this morning, and I have actually lost some - yay! 7lbs have dropped by the wayside!

Lol, I had a call from the xenical support line staff on Sunday afternoon. They were asking how things were going and if I was doing any exercise as that'll help a lot with the weight loss. I said that I'd just been in hospital for 2 weeks, and the response I got was, ""when you're lying in bed, even if it's in hospital, you could be doing upper-body exercises with tins of beans and light weights"". I had visions of being carted off to hdu/itu, struggling in the midst of an asthma attack, adamant that I was going to keep hold of my tins of beans for exercise. Something tells me the xenical support lady wasn't really hearing what I was saying. lol

Anyone got any hints on how to resist chocolate? Now mnage 1 hour aerobic activity 2-3 times a week at the gym (on a good day and when it isn't too busy there) but my weight is still exactly the same. I try to be good but just can't resist the temptation!

KateMoss profile image
KateMoss

Ooooh don't remind me.... I have still got some X-mas chocolate residing in my bread bin!

Try making a prommis to your self that you will only have some on one day a week, perhaps friday evening. Then lock it away or hide it somewhere but not too easy ... like my bread bin. Saying that, I have been fairly good cos the chocolate is Maya Gold fair trade ( organic & dark) and is in a box of 27 little squares so ... one a day. Don't deprive yourself completely because you will crave it even more. the darker the chocolate the better it is for you.

.... Or you can give it up for lent!

Kate

Angela- smelling something vanilla fragranced is supposed to stop choccie cravings , for me it has to be proper vanilla essence as artificial smelss can be a trigger. Hope this helps,

I think i better steer clear of the sclaes tomorow as have had a bad week with too many slices of birthday cake and comfort eating cos i feel rough but i am going to try and get back on track despite this. 1 problem though have got Chloes birthday this coming weekend aaaggghhhh!

Angela,

Get good chocolate and suck it! Doesn't work for me as I have no will power and will eat the whole bar! There is one woman at weight watchers who gets chocolate buttons and keeps them in the fridge and takes one and sucks it and goes and sits back down and gets up again if she wants another. That way she's getting exercise too!

I also tend to stick to kit kats or milky ways if I am out and need a chocolate fix as they are low in points. I sometimes have maya gold if I'm in a cafe which sells it as they do quite small bars.

Beth

I find if i do have real craving then a Curly Wurly is helpful if kept in the fridge as it takes ages to eat/ suck!!

Come to throw a paddy!

I put on 2lb! :-( Its only the second time in six months but its hit me hard. I was 1lb off loosing 4 stone. I was so upset I couldn't even stay for the meeting. I thought I'd come and share with you guys because you are all so supportive I know I won't be judged.

I had a heavy dinner, corned beef hash (lean) with mushy peas, some wotsits and a milky way. I'd then drunk two big glasses of water before I went because I was so thirsty and felt dehydrated. My eyes hurt and I didn't want to end up with a migraine. I had a naughty day last wednesday and probably blew most of my points on that evening and had a piece of cake, some hula hoops, a mini donut and a mini battenburg. Didn't have any tea after it though. I'm sure I've had much worse days but when I have a day like that I use my other points as normal because otherwise I feel like I am preventing myself from having something and that makes the temptation to binge worse.

I used to use food to beat myself up for stuff and now I can't do that so I'm finding it quite difficult not knowing how to beat myself up because I feel like a failure! Part of me knows its only a week in my entire life and it doesn't matter as I'm undergoing a life change and not a diet but part of me feels like I can't fail.

I've also been getting comments from people when I tell them I've got another 3 stone to go and they say 'oh there'll be nothing left of you.' which doesn't help my motivation. I try and tell them I'm doing it for my health not just to look good. The way I see it if I get in the middle of my bmi then I won't be putting as much pressure on my lungs. People don't quite understand how scary it can be having asthma thats sometimes difficult to control and my weight was making it worse as well as not having the right medication at that time.

I've never been this skinny for about four years so I'm really pleased with myself when I reach my goal I'll not have been that thin since I was about 10 years old! It seems impossible at the moment that I could ever be that weight and keep it off. I've been here before twice and always put back on, the first time I did slimming world with my mum and then I went to uni got very depressed and put on about 4 stone in eight weeks. I had art therapy and then managed to get my weight down again and maintain it until I lived by myself then I put it all on again. I don't want to go round in a circle again I want to keep it off this time. I like being able to walk into any shop and buy clothes and have a huge choice, it still feels funny but good.

Anyway think I've probably rambled enough, feel a little bit better for it even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else.

try having mug drinking choc. works for me unless am down then need choc

Had nearly 2 weeks with hubby away in Sri Lanka and had this week off work to sort my son out for school each day. Done a lovely amount of socialising which seems to include lunch most days which of course has done nothing to help my weight. Scales told me the bad news this morning. Diet has to start in earnest yet again. Discipline is definitely not my strong point when it comes to healthy eating.

Am going you angela!! after 3 weeks in hosp not moving around and increased pred and insulin i didnt like what i saw on the scales either!!!! have put weight on for rirst time in months!! not happy bunny, although 2lbs off since monday so hoping heading in the right direction.

andrea xxx

Has been pretty quiet on here recently. I confess i have put on weight too since I sprained my ankle and havent been so active.

Has anyone had some good weight news recently?

Good news

I have 4.7 stones to lose, (though you wouldn't think it was as much as that if you look at me!), and I made a decision to start watching what I ate on 19th November. Since then I've done well (apart from over Christmas), and I've lost 11 lbs - so I'm well on the way to my first stone after 12 weeks.

I'm still feeling positive - and since I'm not cutting anything out of my diet - I'm still enjoying food!

Hurrah!

xx

Well I'm back on diet treadmill again.................yawn!!!!!!!!!!!1

I weighed myself last sat and im only 2pou nd away from all time highest so i pigged out all weekend eating anything and everything ready to start starvation on monday lol . Well from monday am until fri am id lost 6 pound :)))))

j x

SWell have stocked up today on my fruit and have some snack a jacks and ww popcorn to try!! just hope it works as really getting me down now!! damm pred am sick of it and bloomong insulin!! feel like im fighting a loosing battle!! may aswell just eat rubbish and be happy!!

Andrea xxxx

Well havent even started proper;y again yet but weight today down 6lbs on when came out of hosp on tues which is back to weight before went in some am a bit happier, obviously was more due to swellimg and weight retention with hydrocortisone!!

So am all go for tom and agree snack a jacks popcorn is fab and there choc orange ones!!! mmm

Andrea xxzx

RIGHT THAT IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

After digging out my ""fat"" wardrobe again, I've finally decided that enough is enough - I am bridesmaid at my little sisters wedding on 24th march, and i am DETERMINED to have lost 1.5 stone by then!

So tomorrow starts the ultra controlled minimum points possible diet - strictly no deviation until end march - wish me luck!!!!!!

Well done Andrea, and good luck all!

Good Luck with your target Cal and to everyone else too

I've lost a stone!

Hurrah!

I am currently 65kg and need to get down to 55kg

Well only 1lb gone this week but any loss is better than a gain especially as had the period from hell this week!!!

Andrea xx

One off this week for me too!

Good luck all

3lb off this week!!!!!! woo hoo!

Beth

(who's size 16 skirt is literally falling off her, not good when she's at work!)

hmmm well i have lost about 9 lbs, since my last post in Feb, by ultra strict dieting and minimum points counting, but bridesmaid dress still wont fit!!!!! Last push for last 10 days and keeping fingers crossed! am also drinking tonic water like its going out of fashion to try to stave off the cramps, so am waiting for the water retention to kick in!

Good luck everyone

Cal,

Have you tried the core plan? Its the one I do on WW, I can really vouch for it. I know people who have swapped over from points to get those last few pounds off and its really helped give them a kick start as they've had a change.

weight loss

I have been on a diet for the last three years and have lost 16 stone altogether, yeah i was that big but now i have started eating properly again its slowly coming back. My GP put me on half an apple slice of ham and one piece of bread a day, which worked but i'm fed up of that now ,if it was up to him i'd still be doing it. I want something that i can lose weight and still eat food, i have tried ww and slimming world neither helped. I am getting married in september and could really do with some ideas and tips.

congrats to all who has lost weight ive given up dieting every since had hysterectomy i just cant seem to shift the excess pounds..so now if any one says oh uve put weight on i say Yup!! my excess pounds are to expensive to shift......keept at it every 1...i bought a lateral thigh trainer to try and shift it but Nope !! that never worked and i dont realy eat a great deal..so ive given up lol...good luck to all who are dieting...take care all Jackie...

not a good way to lose weight...

I've had an awful week. I got this D & V bug that's been around lately and spent the whole of Easter weekend in bed while the germs purged my system. I went back to work, but I still haven't felt well right up until yesterday.

I hadn't really kept anything down for three days, and since then quite a poor appetite. I've lost a few pounds this week, but its not a diet plan I would recommend! Most of what I've lost is fluid, so hopefully I'll have put quite a lot of that weight back on again.

I'll let you know!

one of hv's in work has been doing lite diet think its called where you drink water only and have food suppliments no real food. she has lost loads weight and looks really good. has to be done with medical supervision tho.

Its lighterlife Kath, for 3mths its meal replacements and water and group councelling sessions then after 3mths can reintroduce food. weightloss is rapid and great, but i cant do as a diabetes, b cant get too metings!

oh well

Oh average have gained 1st per yr with pred!! last 12mts been on n off xenical havent gained and lost 6lbs!!!! so could say havelost 1st6 in 12mths!!!!!!!!!!

still not enough for me!!!!!

ndrea xxx

just wondered if anyone could help ma with sum tips/advice as i need to loose weight .. pred has made me gain soo much weight and not being able to do much excercise dosent help so i need to start some where .. please help!!

katie xx

Very Low Calorie Diets (VCLDs)

I also looked at the lighter life diet as my sister did it with a lot of success. It is very expensive and she ended up giving up after losing over 4st as she just got fed up with it (and bored of soup). I started another very similar diet called cambridge which works on the same principle but you have to add food every 4 weeks, it is cheaper and you have to move to one of the food stages earlier. So far I've lost 2st in 2 months which is about average for the diet. Its more a complete lifestyle change than just a diet as you can use it to manage weight stabilisation as well as losing weight.

It really isn't for everyone. You have to prepare yourself if you are thinking of doing this kind of diet. I spent 2-3 months looking into it and getting my head around the idea of it before I started.

If you have a medical condition you have to get your doctors permission. There are a few conditions listed which exclude you from being able to follow it as it could affect the way the medication works.

HELP!

i am trying to lose weight, but find it difficult working in an office, being sat down all day, and when its always someones birthday so they are constantly bringing in lovely cakes! I gained alot of weight over the last 2 years after and injury stopped me swimming. now the injury is repaired, i am trying to swim about 4 times a week at a mile a time, but it doesnt seem to be shedding the pounds! i wonder if anyone has any advice, bearing in mind that im pretty poor and cant afford any of these expensive diet plans! thanks, hannah x

Just a little warning about these replacement diets. I and friends did the Cambridge diet years ago, lost loads of weight and then after many months got pig sick of the regime and gave it up. The weight piled back on with a vengeance - each one of us ended up weighing more than when we had started the regime. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now.

I believe the only way to successfully lose weight and maintain it is to change your lifestyle - eat healthier foods, monitoring portion size and exercise more. Change things gradually rather than attempting to change everything at once otherwise you will slip back into the old ways.

slimming world

does any one go to slimming world ,if you do does anybody know receipe for egg fried rice tried on web site but it isnt on , thanks for any help

I lost 3 and a half stone previously (about 5 years ago) using a really simple formula what works wonders - but you have to have the willpower to commit to it, like with everything. My willpower has never been great, but I found this really helps. Essentially you calculate the amount of calories you need to maintain your current weight, deduct 500 to 1000 kcals from that total to enable you to lose weight.

So, yes, you count calories - but, you do an additional calculation to proportion the fat and carbohydrate content of those calories, so you're directed to eating a good balance of foods.

This way, provided you stick to your allocations, you lose about 1lb to 2lbs a week, and eventually get used to changing your eating habits to compensate. I don't cut out things I like (still eat chocolate!) but it helps you control the amount of foods you consume. (By the way, I don't count the calories in fruit or veg). I tend to have cereal for breakfast, two or three snacks at or around lunchtime (only about 300 to 400 kcals) and then a normal dinner when I get home from work (making sure I don't heap out the portions. Bulk with veg rather than carbs). I don't often feel hungry.

Once you get to your target weight, you just recalculate the formula on your new weight, and don't deduct any kcals. Then you can maintain. By then, you're in a good routine about food too.

I'm back on this way of eating, and have been since 19th Nov 06. I've lost one and a half stones since then, and I'm doing well. I'm a third of the way to my goal, so I can vouch for this. Don't really like to call it a diet - its more a way of life.

Spaniel. xx

P.S. You're wondering why I put the weight on again after 2002, aren't you? Divorce, illness and two years being cooked-for by my mother...... But I'm ok now. ;)

Has anyone tried the Rosemary Conelly GI Jeans diet?

Have just started it and wondered how other got on and if they managed to keep weight off. I go for the weigh in part but cant do exercise class cos of stroppy lungs. Leader seemed to think that i should still be able to lose reasonable amount despite being on 50mg of pred so have set fisrt target at 1 st wgich will leave 4 more to go after!!!

Did use her hip and thigh diet yrs ago and lost well but can never seem to keep it off.

Got on scales for first weigh in and am heaviest for 4 yrs so not happy esp as im more mobile since having hip op, id hoped id lose not gain - maybe you burn more cals on crutches than walking??!!??

How is everyone else doing its been quiet here recently??!!

I thought I'd jion you all

I started my diet last monday and lost 4lb so well chuffed an basically just cut down on what i eat

I wish you good luck

Tracy

Been really depressed as when in hosp the other week put on 10lbs in four weeks thanks to 60mgs pred and two weeks bed rest after fall!!

Now managed to loose 7lbs off it in two weeks been home. But you know me not enough, will be happier when loose another 1/2 st as thats the weight am happy at!! would be happier lower but that weight can comfortable with for know!! bhut seems so far away!! hate pred!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Andrea xxxx

Well after 1 week on the Rosemary Conelly GI Jeans diet i have lost only 3 lbs. I was hoping for more as have been on 1200 cals. Teacher said that i prob wont lose as much as quickly as i cant do the exercise class:(

but i suppose i should be glad of any loss seeing as im still on 50mg pred!

How is everyone else doing?

cooool!!!!!

well, im 17, i have severe asthùma and am overweight. for my height 165cm) i should weigh 60 kilos, but i actuallt weigh about 80 (i haven't checked recently) my problem is also that because of my asthma i am rarely well enough to take part in the PE lessons at school. i ahve an exercise bike at home that i try to use as much as possible, which again, isn't as often as i would like. the other day i wqas mentally really motivated to go for a run, but was not in form. yesterday i was at the doctors, who diagnosed a sinusitus and chest infection. i am always getting sinusitus, and it always runs down into my lungs. so that is how i stand at the moment.

thanx in advance for all your help

low calorie munch

natural popcorn has very few calories in and make a good munch ...

but can anyone tell me how to cook em and not burn the pan i ave runied :S !!! lol

i did a 3 day free trail on weightlossresources.co.uk and i found it really useful, as you put in your height and weight, and it calculates how many calories you should be eating, and then you can input everything you eat from their database and it tells you how many calories you eat, and how many you have left. also some tips that i picked up from people at work....when it gets towards summer, instead of eating ice cream and ice lollies, buy a little set thing that you can pour your own liquid in to freeze things, and use smoothies. also, buy a load of low calorie treats eg. crisps with less that 100 calories per bag, weight watchers cake bars and mini rolls, cadbury highlights bars and biscuits, cereal bars (all less than 100 calories each) and munch on these instead of the normal chocolate and crisps you crave. MY ULTIMATE LOVELY LOW CALORIE SNACK....SNACK A JACKS DELIGHT CHOCOLATE CHIPS there are so nice, and make a good desert with only about 62 calories!

I even won slimmer of the week for losing 5lb in a week.. Am so chuffed now i just need to keep it off with 2 weeks in France so no cheese or tarts and watch the booze me thinks!!

How is everyone else doing ?

am i ok to join in??

bronnies, of course you can join in. All you need to do is ... join in. No permission needed.

Well according to my scales I've lost 6lbs whilst being in hospital, but I'm not getting too excited about it 'cause I suspect rather a lot of that is muscle loss from all that lying in bed. I'll keep you posted though.

Becky.

I dropped down to 7 stone 12 when I was in hospital for 6 weeks last year. So have put on 3 stone since May 06.

Well done on your loss Becky

On frantic last min diet b4 hols in couple weeks, have lost 10 pounds in 6 days on Slimfast :-) :-)

How much are you wanting to lose KatieLou?

I just try to eat more healthily and try to excersise - that slimfast stuff is full on milk and other no nos for me.

Have just put myself off chocolate - bought some of that Montezeumas Chilli chocolate - Ohhh Boy! Nice chocolate taste for the first 4 seconds then - WHAM! the chilli hits! Now sucking an ice pop!

Kate

hmm , i didnt think so i am aiming to loose as much weight as possible 2 stone at least, ok so slimming world or weight watchers... how do i start?

slimming-world.co.uk/

wouldnt reccomend slimfast for long term but does for me as a short sharp hit.

I think it depends on amount you need to lose as to which diet regime works, none of them are a miracle wonder diet. Ive pretty much tried them all over the years with varied results.

Hey longtime no post on here, are we all struggling???

Me ive lost 6lbs in 2 weeks and 1 week that was in hosp? am now my lowest weight this year be it only by a pound? but it all adds up!! yeah rabbitt food and reduced pred working!!

Starting on Monday............

After being on continuous high dose pred since March and having more than enough comments when admitted last week about how I've put on so much weight with all the steroids, I am starting Slimming world via internet tomorrow. Anybody else doing it this way?

hey gloomyeyeore i did slimming world but i went along to the meetings ive not tried it online but i found going along to the meetings a great help as all the support and encouragement from fellow members was a great help i found the diet quite easy and lost 5 stone in six months. ive sadly put it all back on as the diet is very hard to stick to for too long i ended up aneamic. ive since tried weight watchers and i would recomend this more its alot easier to stick to long term. ive slowy lost three stone in 6 months with no adverse effects like i experienced with slimming world. i think the problem i had with slimming world was that i did mostly green days hardly any red so wasnt eating enough meat maybe this was why i ended up aneamic. im on continuous pred too and the whole time i was doing slimming world i found it very dificult in the evening as this is when i usually get the munchies! so i would eat cherries yummy! hope it works for u good luck!

I thought I would bump up this thread for those of us trying to get rid of pred induced weight - Good luck everyone x

Like most of you im always on steroids. Can you try to loose weight whilst being on steroids cause I would love to have a go at loosing a few pounds but will it come off whilst on steroids? Many thanks xxxxx

yaf_user681_30003 profile image
yaf_user681_30003

Can the boys join in too?

I haven't got the steroids causing or stopping me succeeding, so I should find it easier. That kinda makes it harder as I don't have an excuse not to succeed.

Stress is not only trigger happy, but has started to send my BP up. My GP and nurse are delighted I have joined a new gym and are looking forward to seing a slightly smaller version of me - especially my one-barrel (that's like a one-pack, only it sticks out further!). Apparently weight loss to BP is one-to-one, so a great incentive to lose.

I did very well a few years ago with Fatmanslim (very similar to Rosemary Conley and highly recommended), losing about 2 and half stone and loads of inches off my waste, but then had a wonderful new kitchen fitted at home. As a result, I caught the cookery bug, went off to lots of lessons and - you guessed it - put most of it back on. I have been learning how to modify most of my favourites to lower-fat versions. In fact, my all-time favourite chocolate cake only ever started as low fat - it's the high-quality chocolate that helps keep the fat out.

Alan

I had the ""Pleasure"" of seeing a Locum Doc last year.. and the first thing he did was to do a ""set of blood work"" as he wanted to SHOW ME what I was doing to myself...the following week when I had to go and get my results I was met with the words "" In a room of 100 women ...you would be the last person I would pick to have this readings !!"" as my cholesterol was 3.4 and all the others were just as good. in his words...""Fat women usually don't have these type of reading"" ...I found it shocking that a so called health care worker would not accept the impact that steroids in any shape or form can have on our bodies..to cut a long story short ...I put him in his place .

But it really cheeses me off when people make assumptions about ME , you or anyone just because we ARE NOT ideal size or weight....sorry ranting on a bit now !!

I would love to be Average size again...but ... until I win the lottery and can afford to Lipo suck my fat out off me I will just settle for being as fit as I can be.

I may start a club for the ""Fatty Asthmatics"" ( and secretly exercise when no one is looking, wearing my med/emergency alarm round my neck of course!! )

Well good luck to all that are trying to loose weight and more importantly FEEP FIT

Need to loose a few pounds too! Well 14 if poss! I am not really overweight, just

I did it! Well nearly. I aimed to get back down to my weightwatchers target weight by christmas but missed it by just 1 lb. That means I lost 16lbs last year. Am aiming to drop just under 10 stone by next Christmas, that is another 1/2 stone or so. Nothing too ambitious I hope.

Go for it Kate - hope you manage to lose the weight.

Nothing fits mydaughter went through my wardrobe and im left with 2 prs jeans and a few tops!!!

I thought I'd resurrect this line so that I can brag. Have now got down to 9 1/2 stone. That's 29lbs exactly. Shouldn't brag really though cos have just been told I have an over-active thyroid gland which is really what made me lose the weight. Oh well when I get it sorted with treatment must be careful it doesn't all go back on again.

Congratulations Angela. Brag as much as you like cos you should be proud even though it may be down to the thyroid gland - wouldnt mind a bit of that myself

Hi

I just wanted to brag a bit too.

I have been on xenical for 8 weeks now and after my 2nd weigh in with my GP i have lost 7kg!! Over a stone so im well chuffed. Im so determined to do it and the willpower is killing me but my daughter said she was really proud of me so that is keeping me going.

I have dropped a dress size top and bottom!!!!!

WOO HOO

Well done - I bet you feel a lot better too.

I have stopped wieghing in as I was getting frustrated by the lack of progress according to the scales. My clothes seem to be getting looser but my weight is not moving; perhaps my weight is just moving south (i.e. below the waistband)

Have done it - finally got through the 13 stone barrier - I've been trying to get to 12 stone something for years - I'm only by a pound below though.

Its not that I have changed the food or the exercise regime - I think it is due to the fact that I am suffering with gallstones and being violently sick a few times a month - not a technique I would recommend for weight loss.

I have a new lease of life purely cos I've ve cracked through the barrier, so much so that I'm actually trying to increase my exercise - its amazing how good I feel (mentally) at such little loss. I just hope I can stay 12 something for a while & dont creep back up again.

Argh! I've lost 2 stone and want to lose a bit more but have no motivation. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Please help me loose weigh i have tried everything from smller Plate,weight-watchers,Slimming World,Atkins,Slimming Pills,Pure Hoodia!!!!All failed damn it....damn Steroids...Cass.x

I joined Dietline (part of Scottish Slimmers) 3 years ago. I started at 109 kilos and got down to 84 before I got diagnosed with Asthma. It's up and down at the moment depending on medication, how stressed I am and how much exercise I'm able to get (95 this week). I ring my coach every week and she motivates me to stick with it. You can also email or write and there are classes but mostly in Scotland. The forum is great too.

scottishslimmers.com/

Brilliant idea!

I joined Boots online slimming club last year intending to lose 1lb a week. In six months I lost 9lbs and I have put it all back on in three very stressful weeks.

I'm back on track now I hope and must lose that 9lbs by 13th December for a very posh do I'm going to.

PS Asthma Uk forum is much better than Boots Diets forum

Good luck to everyone
