new to this need advice
hi, my 15 month old was very scared to start off with but i decorated his spacer with stickers and put it in his toy box so he could play with it. also when his having it me and my partner count to 10 loudly and once his finished make a fuss of how well his done. now he doen't mind having it and starts clapping when his finished.
i think u will have to force him to start with but they do get use to it and its for their own good
hope this helps

Keelan was 6 months the first time he was admitted to hospital with a wheezy episode but he still hasn't been officially diagnosed with asthma although he has a blue and brown inhalers. It is awful seeing them ill. Has your son been diagnosed recently?
Yer he was geting wezzey at night and doc listened to his chest and gave blue inhaler aw
Hi
Dont force him to use it you will both only get upset and he will not recieve the medication correctly. Count to ten out loud with him then clap and cheer soon he will think its a great game. Even if its only over his face for the count of two or three do the same thing. Its a good idea to do this every day (without the inhaler) so he doesn't associate it with being unwell. Usually takes about two weeks of clapping and cheering then you will have cracked it.
My friend asked for a dummy inhaler too and her and her husband 'took' their inhaler and their daughter took her's
what we used to do is give the inhaler and spacer to the child to play with, so they get used to it, play with it so they dont get scared of it, then you can slowly introduce the spacer and inhaler closer to his face and perhape have him to hold it onto his face to give himself the puffs he needs?
also have him to count to 10 with you. after each puff clap hands and say well done as a reward?
as previously posted, you can put stickers on the volumatic to make it child friendly as well - his favourite tv programme etc... to get him more used to using it and so its not so scary...
good luck..
feel freee to pm me if u need anymore advice
