son cant stop coughing....
According to what I've read, if the cough is disrupting sleep, then his asthma is not under control. You need to go back to the GP or (preferably) the asthma nurse at your practice if there is one, & report that. It could be that the steroid inhaler prescribed is not working for him, & you need to try a different one. It sounds like quite a high dosage, so if the reliever (the blue one) isn't helping at night, you need to think about getting different treatment. Are you using a spacer with the inhalers? We found that made a big difference. I feel for you - it's terrible to hear them coughing & not to be able to stop it. You need to explain to the Dr that he's not improving, & try something else. Hoping your boy gets better soon.

Things to try
Hi I have two sons at home been up coughing during the night for weeks now!! Both got asthma one age 4 one age 11. I find a bowl of steam in the bedroom with menthol crystals helps. Also turn the radiators off completely in their rooms as the dryness seems to make it worse. Also my doctor told me even when its cold to leave a window open a tiny bit and just put extra covers on as the fresh air seems to help. It didn't stop the coughing completely but certainly helped a bit. Good luck and hope your son gets better soon.
It's so hard sometimes feel more like a nurse than a mother! It really helps to know others understand what you are going through! Especially when these annoying people brag about how their children sleep for twelve hours a night and you think "" thanks a lot that really helps!"" It's not anyone's fault just a horrible illness which can unfortunately cause sleep problems too,
