Hi new to the boards and after a little advice.

Hi everyone,

I have been reading some of the posts on here for a while now. I feel now is a good time to introduce myself and tell you a little of my story.

I am a Mummy to two children Leah-May 4 and Blake 1. Blake was born at 31 weeks so 9 early. After 10 weeks in Nicu he finally came home. He has a few ongoing 'problems' his chest being the main one to cause concern. One of the Gp's at our doctors has recently said yes he has Asthma and lets stop saying it might be. But the other Gp Won't say anything. I think this is because Blake is still so young. Blake is currently on Beclazone 100, ventoline when needed and Montelukast granules, which doesn't seem that much compared to some others on here. We have laminate flooring through out and hoover and dust everyday, we have also put a hymidfier (please excuse spelling) in his bedroom over night, we also keep him away from dogs and cats, which all seem to help a little.

We saw Blake's pead consulatant today, a prem check up, and he says Blake is a happy wheezer as he still plays when he is wheezing. Does anyone know whatt is ment by this??

Anyway this is enough of me, thanks for reading

Hi there

i am new 2! My son was prem also. he is always getting called a happy wheezer . I just assumed they ment because hes so young he wont be ill with the wheezing unless he is that short of breath he can't move around. when Leo was ill the other day he was singing in the ambulance after they gave him a nebuliser and thats what they said about him them. Even when he was on cpap a few years ago with a bad infection he was still smiling.

The bad side of this is gps (well my gp) don't seem to understand they can still be ill even when they are happy. My gp sent Leo home with amoxcillen and by the time i got home i had tocall 999 because he could not breath.

as for being diagnosed im in the same boat some people say he has it some say he is to young to be tested. But as he has lung disease any way they always treat it like it is asthma.

as Leo is happy all the time while wheezing the worst thing for me is not knowing when to give him his inhaler so i have been given a action plan from the asthma nurse and it helps me feel in control alot more but at the moment not sure if its working.

If you ever need a chat just let me know

or that they are happy and active even though they have symptoms.

I have wheeze to verying levels all the time but it doesn't stop me from swimming running walking generally being active.

The only time it stops me is when asthma is playing up.

Hi, thankyou both both posting reply's. It's reasuring to know that there are other 'happy wheezer's' out there and what is ment by the term.

Lisa ~ I can't believe how close your post is to our story too. Our Gp also seems to think that beacuse Bllake is smiling while wheezing at him that is fine and that it is nothing. While we also have a 'nice' Gp who says it's asthma and he needs treatment, very confussing to be honest. Blake also has Chronic Lung and reacurring chest infections so I'm a bit confussed also wheather it is 'asthma' or just his CLD but I guess time will tell.

I hope things are ok with your Little one at the moment.

Thanks again
