I had a similar experience to that when I had my wisdom teeth out. I was in hospital to have mine out - didn't even stay overnight but I found that my favourite breakfast cereal of the time - Jordans Crunch tasted weird afterwards and like you say it was a metallic taste. I have never eaten it since. I guess now it is the association not the taste! I believe we have taste receptors all over our mouths and these may have been disrupted from taking the teeth out and give you the metallic taste. This should fade as your mouth heals. My partner had his wisdom teeth out a few months after me - in the same hospital and they left him with nerve damage leaving only half the feeling he should have had in his cheek. Am hoping you will find that you will be OK within a few days or a week or so. If not get back to your dentist.

All the best
