I have had ongoing bursitis in both of my hips for about 3-4 years. Very painful, for example, when I carry a basket of laundry up stairs or need to lift just about anything that is heavy. I had this checked out about 3 years ago before COVID limited doctor visits. At that time they told me to take 3 Aleve. If it happens to be not too bad, sometimes it will work but it usually doesn’t. They also referred me for physical therapy which I have not attempted yet.
I just wonder why they have not done an MRI so far. I have had just an xray and they said no arthritis.
Any suggestions as to what treatments you have received that have helped? I am 56.

Hi I had this problem a few years ago. My GP gave me cortisone injections in both thighs which worked very well. At least I could lie on my side to go to sleep. Hope this helps a little.
I have bursitis too, and have to avoid lifting anything remotely heavy for other health reasons. So could you try lifting small amounts of items at a time to take upstairs . My Gp diagnosed me with a physical examination and gave me a leaflet to explain reasons for bursitis. (I did not have an X-ray.) I fitted the reasons, In my case I’m out of alignment have been for over 40 years due to a misdiagnosis. At that time I was seeing an Acupuncturist and he recommended heat to the area which helped a lot. I also looked online and found some info which has helped me keep driving my car. And that’s a wedge cushion. In fact I use two of them with the thick part to the back of the seat and the thin part to the front. I am also careful of how I get in and out of the car sitting on seat sideways first and then bringing legs round to the driving position. When I’m sitting on memory topper cushions doing craft work, I avoid turning to the right where my bursitis resides. Occasionally I forget and the next day I realise my mistake. This post has be a great reminder to do the heat treatments on my hip area again. I’ll get the hot water bottle out to remind myself as it’s been over 2 years since I last did it
Yes make them do an mri. Xrays won’t show fluid which is what bursitus is. If it is then they can give meds or injections and aspirate if it’s really swollen.
