Hi,me again, after total knee replacement, have to say I'm doing really well, down to one stick and taking short walks each day.Had my staples out but now I'm worrying about the way the wound is healing ,some parts look good but today a small amount of discharge ( clear) has appeared,I've spoken to the hospital who seem to think its something and nothing even though they haven't seen it ,but it's very tender in places,is this normal? Thanks everyone.

Not sure if it’s normal for everyone (mine never did, but then I heal very quickly), but having looked online most sites only comment on whether it’s a “pus like” discharge you need to worry and if it’s inflamed around wound...and advice is speak to hospital, as you have.
As you only had staples out recently maybe it’s that?
Even though you have spoken to hospital if you are still worried perhaps you should contact GP surgery and ask for somebody to look at it.....I know it’s difficult at the moment, but we keep being told ‘the NHS is open’....
.....tenderness is normal, and likely to be for a long time......
Thanks so much for your reply, I don't think it's a serious concern ,perhaps I've been too enthusiastic in my exercises,I'm going to have a couple if days off from the bending I think I may have been putting too much strain on it after the staples were taken out.If it doesn't clear up I'll definitely try the GP.Thanks again.Judy
Hi sounds like you might have been over doing it after the clips came out, if its clear liquid that sounds alright if it starts to get hot, inflamed or coloured then please get back in touch with either your Dr or hospital where you had it done. I have had my left knee done last year you are doing very well to be only using one stick already, I am now waiting to have my right one done so hope it continues to improve for you Love & Hugs Xx
