I am so nervous
What are you nervous about? I had a partial kr in March and will be having a tkr on the other side in February. I have also had 2 hip replacements in the last 18 months.
Hi Lynnee,
My Husband had a Complete Knee Replacement a couple of years ago...
But he's had nothing but trouble with it since. He was called back to the hospital for a check up. Well I told the Doctor that he was having a lot of pain with it,So they decided that he should have an XRAY done on it. When the results came back ,
She said, Oh Yes,the replacement that was put in is slightly larger than it should have been. But the Consultant thought that it would be okay.as the difference is very slightly. Well I won't go into all the details. But my Husband wishes now that he hadn't had it done.
But we know a Lady that have had both her Knees replaced in the past 18 months and she's been absolutely marvellous. Before she had the operation she could hardly walk. But now,she walks everywhere without any sticks or anyone to help her. It works for some people but not for others.
It's like everything,we don't really know until we have it done. ???.
I hope it works for you and i wish you a speedy recovery. Good Luck. 👍
And all the best for the New Year.
Thank you very much for your reply xx
You're welcome Lynne..
I know how worrying it can be when you're going into hospital for an operation.
I have to go in hospital in a few weeks time to have my Gallbladder removed. But it's not just a run of the mill type operation.!!!!
So im really nervous about having it done. But i know that it's a necessity.
So I'll just have to go along with it. UGH. Good luck with your knee operation Lynnee. xx.
Hope all goes well for your operation.
Good luck xx mess to let me know how you get on xx
Thanks Lynnee,
Yes I will message you. I should have had it done a few weeks ago. But I had a chest infection,so couldn't have it done. I got the Flu now. I've been on Antibiotics for 3 weeks and it still haven't gone. So I don't know whats going to happen. I'm a high risk for General Anaesthetic and that's the only type of Anaesthetic
that i can have for this Operation.
2 of my Heart Valve's are not working properly but they can't find a Surgeon that would be prepared to replace the valves, because they said that I wouldn't survive the operation. I've also got C.O.P.D,Angina, Asthma and a 16 cm mixed Haitus Hernia. I also have Chronic Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis,Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis anda Uterine Prolapse.........
And now all this have started up.
Anyway Lynnee, we can keep in touch. You will have had your knee replacement before I have my Gallbladder surgery. I think so anyway.!!!
After your OP, let me know how you're getting along.
Good Luck and wishing you a good
Speedy Recovery. 😚 xx
So sorry to hear all this
Yes would be nice to keep
In touch thank you xx
Well, it’s not a walk in the park (no pun intended) but if your doctor has given you lots of educational information then you know what to expect. Is there pain? Hell, yes! Does it last forever? Hell, no! Bottom line is to do the exercises and the PT and just know that it will take time to completely heal. This surgery is a true test of patience but I found that I turned a corner about every two weeks. You can do this and in the end it will all be worth it, just don’t be a sissy.
I had a knee replacement November 2018. It is very painful. After 6 months it got easier. After a year I was nearly there... now I can walk long distances without fear of my leg giving way. But you must do physio afterwards. I had 6 sessions at the hospital and then paid for 10 privately. There is lots of advice on YouTube. Good luck. It will be worth it in the end but it’s not a quick fix.
Pleased it has helped. A lot of people recover quicker than me. I was 70 when I had the operation. I was fit but my leg had got really bent. The surgeon had to straighten it and I’ve had a large implant.
For ages I wished I hadn’t had it done but looking back it is worth it. One tip I have discovered lately is to sleep with a small warm hot water bottle between my knees.
You wouldn’t do that straightaway but it is certainly useful when you have recovered a bit.
First 6 weeks is the worse bit. You will need lots of support. Best wishes.
