I have looked into this and applied to get treatment in Panama.

I have RA and since 32 yr old (I’m 38 now) and already need total elbow replacement.

Unfortunately I just couldn’t justify the £16000 cost as well as travel expenses.

The treatment they suggested to me was mesenchymal stem cell treatment which is cells taken from donated umbilical cords, multiplied and grown in a lab and then injected into my blood stream.

I would have been there in a shot if they could guarantee it would work for me, but they said it may not work for everyone.

I simply cannot afford a £16000 plus gamble.

Let me know how you get on if you decide to go down that route.

All the best

From my understanding this is a theoretical treatment only. There as been a lot of research into the use of stem cells however none of which have lead to a proven or approved treatment. There are a number of people who have had stem cell " treatment " for lung conditions which have proved to be a waste of money. The thing that you need to remember is that the laws in the States are different to those in the UK and many of the medical claims for stem cell treatments come from the States. Basically it may happen but not for a number of years. My wife as PSA and from all my reading the stem cell treatments at the present time are there to part you with your money without benefit.
