Can you please tell me...

I have inflammatory arthritis with RA signs according to my blood tests. My doctor recommends Humira shots (I will have to do myself on my hip). Anyone with experience in that (and pros and cons). I am suffering every hour with no relief so my doctor said that it will give me some relief. I will really appreciate your comments on this before I do anything. Waiting eagerly to hear from you. thanks a lot. Hannah44

Im on Humira and I have to say it works pretty well for me - the injections are no problem, and you really shouldn't sweat about them.

The original formula for Humira stung a lot, but they have changed this and now I dont get any stinging now.

Hope it works for you.

Green Boy, if you don't mind, I would like to ask you few more questions before I go to my first Humira shot. I will really appreciate if you can help me.

1. how long after the first shot you got relief ??

2. how many months you need these shots ??

3. also I heard it very painful, is it true ??

4. did you have any bad reaction or not.

You seem very courageous because you went thru so much from what I read, I am rather very "chicken" when it comes to shots. Should I bring someone with me ?? I know I should ask my doctor but I prefer to ask a patient experience, it means more to me. I am suffering a lot now and I want to be careful to don't suffer more.

Thank you so very much. hope to hear again from you. Hannah44

Hi hanna

I never had an immediate relief due to Humira but rather a lessening of the pain over a few weeks. I think it depends on the individual as she me seem to have almost immediate relief.

I have been on fortnightly shots for 3 years now and although not 100% effective all the time it’s way way better than before.

It was painful but now they have changed the formula I hardly notice it.

No reactions.

Hope this helps. It may seem a big deal but honestly it’s not once you are used to it. And if you think of the benefits then a couple of seconds for the injection is nothing

All the best

GB

GB, after bothering you so much about Humira shots, my doctor decided that I would rather take Xeljanz pills than the shots and I think I agree with him. He said it will take about 3 months to see results but sometimes you get some relief after 4 weeks. I just wanted to tell you and thank you again for your cooperation on this topic

I was on Humira but unfortunately it didn't work for me, but I have friends who are on it and it has really worked for them.

As Hannah44 has said , they changed the formula and took out the preservative out. I found it still did sting a little. You need to take it out of the fridge at least half-1 hour to help avoid that. I also took an Antihistamine before and that helps.

I had site reaction problems, but others have found putting ice on it helps with that.

Good luck with it. Rie

Hermes123.

Hi Hannah, I have been in pain for 55.years I cannot tell you the different stages of so called pain relief drugs of varying types, injections, operations so on and so fourth, Humira shots is something I never heard off, I been through R.A. Osteoarthritis and Degenerative joint disorder, meaning I have brittle joints, when it comes to real pain there is no relief for long term suffers, no matter what excise one does despite what the exercise fanatics tell one, if caught early exercise can be beneficial, in my case it just moves the pain around from one muscle or joint to another, so it is a case for me to try and relax the era of the infected pain, muscle rubs can be a big help, but all things are temporary, until some boffin works out how to control the pain gates of the brain, it wont be in my life time but hey who knows what the future might bring, its just been to long arriving. Hermes.
